In Eagle Butte, SD, on June 4, 1986, Myron Flying By and Teresita Blue Arm welcomed the birth of their new baby boy, Lynden Aljo Flying By. He was fierce from the moment he entered this world, all the way until he left it, he was a fighter, both strong and smart.

Lynden had six brothers: D’Boy Condon, Colin Marrowbone, Moses Flying By, Calvin Flying By, Myron Flying By Jr., Beau Flying By (Joseph Hale), four sisters: Lindsey Flying By (Joseph Hale) Cora Flying By (Arnold Cloud Eagle III), daughters: Halo Waloke, Tayden Flying By, and Gabriella Flying By. Lynden loved all of his nieces and nephews and he was loved by all.

His superior strength and intellect along with his determination and love for competition made him into an awesome athlete and the person that he was. He was dependable whenever you needed him.

In the first years of his life, he lived in Eagle Butte, and later when Lynden was about four, he moved to Cherry Creek, SD where he spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years. He attended Cherry Creek Headstart and Takini School. Lynden loved playing basketball in school as well as at home.

In his late teen years, he met Lucinda Buckley and together they had two daughters, Tayden Airess and Gabriella Roselyn L’Shay Flying By. He was living in Mobridge, SD when he lost his baby girl, Gabby, and it was a pain that he never got over. Losing Gabby, and not being able to be with his daughters, he bounced around from place to place. He stayed with his cousin, Corey, in Rapid City, SD, hanging with Nick. Lynden suffered a lot of damage in an incident which left him paralyzed from the waist down. After his accident, he died twice but the doctors brought him back both times. After some time, he was moved to a care facility in Omaha, NE, where he finished his high school diploma in 2015. He lived in Omaha for seven years. He was then moved to Martin, SD, where his health issues began. He bounced around from hospital to hospital until he finally came home to Cherry Creek in 2022. His health continued to be an issue. Lynden spent the rest of his time with us battling the infection that eventually took his life.

He is survived by his mother, Teresita Blue Arm; brothers: D’Boy, Colin, Moses, Myron, Calvin; sisters: Jamie, Deirdre, Lindsey, Cora; and daughters: Halo and Tayden.

Lynden is preceded in death by his father, Myron Flying By Sr.; brother, Beau Flying By; daughter, Gabby; niece, Kubria; nephew, Aaron; and several grandparents, uncles, and aunts.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Lynden’s arrangements.
