Mabel Weber, 91 of Newport, Oregon, and formerly of Seneca died peacefully in her sleep at Casiana’s Care Center in Oregon, Monday, March 12, 2007.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30a.m., Monday, March 19 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Seneca with Fr. Thomas Clement officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Seneca. Visitation was held Sunday, March 18, from 1:00 to 4:00p.m. at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton, with a 7:00p.m. prayer service at the church in Seneca.

Mabel Levora Weber was born January 10, 1916 to Carl and Mary (Nelson) Martz at Lebanon, South Dakota. She grew up and attended school in Lebanon. She married George Maroney to which they had three children, Harlen, Norma Jean and Elroy. On January 1, 1941 she then married Sylvester Joseph Weber in Faulkton, South Dakota. Together they had four children, Milton, Bernadette, Marshall and LeVora. Mabel also raised three step-children, Marvin, Donna and Marjorie. Sylvester and Mabel lived on a farm in Potter County where they raised these nine children.

Mabel loved her family. There was nowhere else in the world she would have rather been than with her husband, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being a farmer’s wife, she loved cooking for large groups and was known for her “homemade bread” and “cinnamon rolls”. She loved playing cards with the family and dancing. She was still very active at 90+ including going for her daily walks.

Her life will be cherished by her children: Bernadette Klaus of Seattle, WA, Marshall Weber of Pierre, and LeVora Palmer of Newport, OR; step daughters: Donna (Delmar) Hagenlock of Gettysburg, and Marjorie (Joe) Vujnovich or Moorhead, MN; daughters-in-law: Betty Maroney of Wetonka, SD, Doris Weber of Highmore, and Phyllis Weber of Aberdeen and 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mary Martz; husbands, George Maroney and Sylvester Weber; three sons: Harlen and Elroy Maroney and Milton Weber; one daughter, Norma Jean Newland; step-son, Marvin Weber; son-in-law, Chuck Newland; three grandchildren and five siblings.
