Mandy Reid Martinmaas, 38, of Aberdeen and formerly of Faulkton, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Shawn Stoll presiding. Burial will be in the Faulkton Cemetery. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2023, with visitation one-hour prior, all at the church.
Amanda “Mandy” Marie Reid was born to Lynis and Wanda (Downing) Reid on August 8, 1984, in Faulkton, South Dakota. Mandy graduated from Faulkton High School in 2002. Afterwards, she went on to attend Northern State University in Aberdeen. Mandy spent a lot of years working in sales, insurance, and at Avera St. Luke’s in Aberdeen until her health prevented her.
On October 6, 2018, Mandy married the love of her life, Travis Martinmaas in Faulkton.
Mandy loved cooking, baking, and gardening. She loved being creative and had a talent for working with her hands. She always looked forward to taking camping trips with her family in the summer to the Black Hills. To Travis’ dismay, she always had to have her fishing pole ready whenever she was near the water. Mandy had a passion for animals, especially her cats: Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Bernice; and dog: Henry. Anyone that knew her was aware that her quick-witted humor could always get the room laughing. She will be remembered by her brothers, Dylan and Ryan, as a loyal and protective big sister who loved them fiercely.
Mandy is survived by her husband, Travis Martinmaas of Aberdeen; parents: Lynis and Wanda Reid of Faulkton; maternal grandmother: Dorothy Downing of Redfield; brothers: Dylan (Tina) Reid of Aberdeen and Ryan (Cami) Reid of Aberdeen; father-in-law: Roger Martinmaas of Aberdeen; brother-in-law: Craig Martinmaas of Polo; four nieces and two nephews; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will never forget her resiliency and strength.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: William and Renee Reid; maternal grandfather: Fred Downing, and mother-in-law: Melanie Martinmaas.
The family would like to thank Dr. Conklin and all his staff at the cancer center for the compassionate care they provided for Mandy over the past three years. Bless you for all your efforts in helping Mandy stay strong through her courageous battle.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Mandy’s arrangements.

I am heartbroken at the loss of Mandy. I have very few memories in high school and college that don't involve her, and later her and Travis. She was one of the best friends I ever had, so many memories to cherish. One more recent one was a message from her about my cat. Growing up I always disliked cats and when Mandy and Travis got their apartment and her cat it would always try to cuddle with me and I would cringe and kick him off. She couldn't beleive or be more proud that I finally have a love for cats. We had many drives, trips back and forth from Aberdeen to Faulkton, parties, phone calls, games of darts and above all laughs….gosh we had alot of laughs and above all so many good memories. I will miss her so much but will always cherish the memories! God Bless Travis, Wanda and Chops, Dylan and Ryan as well as the inlaws.
Rest in peace Mandy, your work here on earth is done. You are the bravest person that I have ever known. You fought a battle that very few would have taken on. You leave here on earth a family that loves you dearly and will carry you with them until you meet again. Wanda, you raised a fine woman and gave her the strength she needed to go as far as she could. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hold tight to the memories for it's where she waits for you. Love, Brad and Patty Holm
Love, prayers and healing to all. You will be greatly missed Mandy.

I am so sorry to see this. Thinking of all of you.
Mandy was truly one of a kind! One of the first friends I made in college, she always made me feel so welcome and included, especially when I was homesick. She always asked me tag along on trips to Faulkton where we would have lots of fun and laughs while trying to stay out of trouble. I think of Mandy often and the fun times we shared during our NSU years. Sending prayers of comfort to Travis and the Reid family. Mandy was such a special soul.
Mandy, I really don't have the words to say what's in my heart today as you are laid to rest. You were such a strong woman the entire time that I've known you. You always inspired me to stand up for what was right. You are always present with your friends and your loved ones, giving your full attention. I wish I could have attended in person today, but I'm glad I got to virtually. Thank you so much for being my friend and for all that you've done. My condolences to your family and our friends.
So sorry for the loss of your sweet Daughter, May She Rest In Peace.
