Margueritte Louise ?Margo? Dittman was born December 17, 1920 in Alta Vista, KS to Ben and Pauline (Kietzman) Dittman. Margo graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1938 and from Parkview Nursing School in Manhattan, KS in 1942. While earning her degree, she met the love of her life, Norman Rockwell Meriweather, who was washing dishes at the Parkview Hospital, trying to earn his way through college.
They were married in Manhattan, KS on June 5, 1943. Shortly after, military life took them to Ft. Benning, GA. Daughters Connie and Kay joined the family. Norm and Margo moved frequently the first few years of their marriage and finally arriving back in Manhattan where Norm finished vet school. Margo helped finance his education by using her nursing skills. In 1955, the couple made Miller their permanent home. Margo occasionally worked at Hand County Memorial Hospital.
Most of Margo?s time was spent with church activities including singing in the choir for decades. Gardening, fishing, hunting, sewing and quilting at the church, playing pitch, taking care of elderly relatives and socializing with friends kept Margo busy. Life was altered when a third daughter, Marcia, joined the family and helped keep the Meriweather?s young at heart. Margo loved trips to Canada each summer. She enjoyed being an excellent homemaker and loving Mom and Grandmother. In June of 2011, Norm passed away shortly after he and Margo celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Margo moved to Pierre, SD residing at Kelly?s II Assisted Living. She died suddenly on July 17, 2013 at Avera St Mary?s in Pierre, SD.
Preceding Margueritte in death were her sister Catherine, her brother Charles, her parents, her beloved Norman, and many aunts, uncles and in-laws.

  7. So sorry to hear of Margo’s passing! She was such a nice person and my wife and I enjoyed a couple of days visit with Norm and Margo several years ago while on a three-week driving tour of the central United States.

I am among the last of this generation of cousins. When living in Kansas as a small boy, my brother Charles and I thought spending time on our Uncle Ben and Aunt Pauline’s farm was one of the best summer vacations we could have.

Since Margo had brothers also named Charles and Robert, this may be a bit confusing. My father was Charles Kietzman, younger brother of Pauline. My brother was born in 1931 and I was born in 1933. We have lived in Houston since early 1969.

  8. Our Prayers and Sympathy are with you and God Bless you all.
    DR. Dick and Kathy Splichal
