MARIE'S VIDEO TRIBUTE
Marie Dyer, 91, of Miller, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial followed at G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Reck Funeral Home in Miller followed by a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.
Nettie Marie was born June 3, 1919 to Harvey and Mary Frances (Paddick) Southerton in Duquette, Minnesota. She attended school through part of high school before leaving to support herself. Marie married Gerald Marion Dyer September 17, 1939 in Duluth, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born: Lawrence Franklin, Janet Karen, Dale Edward, Dean Lynn and James Lee. Throughout Gerald and Marie’s married life, they resided in Bruno, Minnesota, Wessington Springs, White Lake, Sand Creek Township in Beadle County and later Miller. Marie was a seamstress and homemaker throughout her life, making the number one lemon pie and buns.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, sewing, playing organ, dancing and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Marie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Miller where she served as a Deacon, sewed many children’s cloths for missions and was a part of the Sand Creek Club.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her five children: Lawrence (Barbara) Dyer of Volga, Janet (Ron) Bertsch of Yankton, Dale (Arlene) Dyer of Miller, Dean Dyer of Huron, and Jim (Marilyn) Dyer of Miller; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerry; one brother and one infant sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Miller Hospice/Home Health program, 318 West 5th Street, Miller, SD 57362.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Marie’s arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Marie’s passing. She was one sweet lady and my memories of her will always be with Gerry dancing and having fun. Why can’t we always dance with the one’s we love.
