Mark Kluthe

Mark E. Kluthe, 64, of Huron, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home, of natural causes.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Ann's Cemetery in Miller.
Mark was born in Miller, SD on March 11, 1959, to Edwin and Jeanne (Heumiller) Kluthe. Mark graduated from Miller High School in 1977, and attended Huron University where he graduated summa cum laude in 1993. While at Huron University, he received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, Huron Chamber of Commerce Academic Achievement Award, “Huronian” Award, along with a number of other awards. He went on to receive a master’s degree from USD in History in 1995. He most recently worked at Coburn’s in Huron for many years.
Mark had a very strong interest in history and had studied Abraham Lincoln intensively. He spent many hours in libraries and on his computer researching history and politics. Mark loved his family above all else.
He is survived by his sisters: Barb Kluthe, Mary Stack, and Peggy (Jerry) Heezen; along with nephews: Chris Heezen and Jake Heezen; and niece, Courtney Heezen.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jeanne Kluthe, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Hand County Library, a place where Mark spent many happy hours. Any memorials may be sent to Mary Kluthe Stack, 6606 W St Orrie Circle, Sioux Falls, SD 57106.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Mark's arrangements.

So sorry for your loss. Mark & I had several classes together at Huron College, way back when. I had many good conversations with him. You have my sympathy.
