November 7, 1943 ~ October 25, 2022

Mary Ann Huss Golay died peacefully under hospice care at Primrose Cottages in Aberdeen, South Dakota on October 25, 2022, at the age of 78 with her children by her side.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family graveside in the Faulkton Cemetery, Faulkton, SD.

Mary Ann Huss was born November 7, 1943, in Faulkton, SD to Leo and Connie (Conner) Huss. She graduated from Faulkton High School.

She married Larry Stammer in 1963 and moved out to a small farm east of Miranda. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed two children, Mark and Lori, into their home. A few years later, their family relocated to Redfield where they pursued a variety of jobs and interests.

Later in life, Mary Ann remarried, eventually settling in Aurora, CO, working as the executive assistant for a business executive until her retirement. She subsequently moved to Arizona for a short time before returning to her hometown of Faulkton.

Mary Ann’s children remember her as a kind and gentle soul who loved to travel, knit, and play competitive golf. She loved her many visits overseas, her favorite being Mexico, where she enjoyed the sunny weather, snorkeling, food, and friends. She enjoyed singing, frequently recounting her fond memories of singing in the church choir at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and even during her time at Primrose. Like her mom Connie, Mary Ann loved sweets like Snickers bars and Scotcheroos. She always had a variety of caramel rolls, cookies and muffins in her kitchen.

Mary Ann is survived by her children: Mark R. (Donna) Stammer of Tiki Island, TX, and Lori Stammer of Aurora, CO; grandchildren: Kyle (Rebekah) Stammer of Fort Polk, LA; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Harper, and Megan (Aaron) Wolverton of Fort Benning, GA; great grandson, Emmett; and brothers: Mike (Jean) Huss, and Pat (Marsha) Huss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Connie Huss.

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank Primrose Cottages and Avera @Home Hospice for the exceptional care, support and assistance provided for Mary Ann.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Mary Ann’s arrangements.
