Morris C. Geist, 83, of Faulkton passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Faulkton Area Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Legion Hall, Faulkton. A meal will follow. Burial of Morris' cremains will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Wecota.
Morris Calvin Geist was born August 15, 1938, in Roscoe, SD to Emil and Emma (Forkel) Geist. He grew up in rural Faulkton and attended school through the 8th grade.
Morris married Sharon Fogel on October 4, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD. Together they lived in the Seneca; Mesa, AZ, Bowdle, Aberdeen, Downey, CA, Cresbard, and Faulkton areas. He worked as a mechanic and farmer his whole life. He also sold Watkins products for many years as well. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wecota, SD.
Morris loved spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and boating in his wooden Chris-Craft; tinkering in his bus, taking apart anything and everything; gardening and putting together puzzles. He loved singing to Sharon, and in their younger years dancing with her. Morris had a great sense of humor, and he loved when the grandkids and great-grandkids visited.
He is survived by his children: Tim (Betty) Geist of Conde, Jeff (Rochelle) Geist of Newell, Shelley Tietz of Aberdeen, and Terry (Jackie Moment) Geist of Rapid City; son-in-law, Dan Melius of Miranda; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; sisters: Alice DeVoss of Aberdeen and Shirley Masten of Custer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dennis (Linda) Fogel of Aberdeen, Jim Fogel of Aberdeen, David (Carol) Fogel of Pequot Lakes, MN, Norman Fogel of St. Cloud, MN, and Linda Fogel of Aberdeen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Sharon; daughter, Susan Melius; brother, Harold Geist; sister, Darlene Roseland; grandson, Gabriel Geist; great-grandson, Connor Geist; and great-granddaughter, Kinsley Tietz.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Morris’ arrangements.
