July 11, 1940 ~ January 5, 2025

Norma Kay Krantz, 84, of Miller, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.

Services will be held in the spring at the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Norma Kay (Aalbers) Krantz was born in Hand County, SD on July 11, 1940, to Gradus and Florine (Bradburn) Aalbers of St. Lawrence, SD. Norma attended country school in Pearl Township in Hand County and graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1958. In 1960, Norma married her soul mate, Stanley Krantz.

Norma worked as a cook off and on all her life. Norma and Stanley moved around with Stanley’s work. At one point, Norma’s dream came true when she purchased the Ranch Café in Miller. Norma managed the Ranch for a number of years, lovingly cooking up favorite meals for her customers. After selling the café, she continued to cook part-time at the Ranch Café until health issues forced her to retire. In August 2013, Norma lost her husband. In 2020, due to health issues, Norma moved to Mitchell, SD, before moving to Good Samaritan in Miller, SD, in January 2024, where she lived until her death on January 5, 2025.

Norma loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking care of them whenever she could. She also enjoyed gardening and country living. And of course, Norma loved drinking coffee and visiting with friends and family.

Norma is survived by her siblings: Donna (Roger) Grogan of Mitchell, SD; Judy (Charles) Beaner of Aberdeen SD; and Jack (Ann) Aalbers of Mitchell, SD; her In-laws: Linda Aalbers of Miller, SD, Dennis and Delores Krantz of Ham Lake, MN; Gary Krantz of Tenstrike, MN; and Charles Krantz of Isanti, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Stanley; brothers, James and Kenneth (Sonny) Aalbers; nephews, Daniel Beaner and Zachariah Schirmer; father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Veronica Krantz; sister-in-law, Ione Raeker; and brothers-in-law, Jerome and James Krantz.

Cards can be mailed to Jack & Ann Aalbers, 2221 N. Kimball #6, Mitchell, SD 57301.
