January 12, 1949 ~ February 15, 2012

Peggy A. Meek-Sell, 63, of Worthing, SD and formerly of Highmore, SD, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Southridge Healthcare in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Highmore with Pastor Kori Lehrkamp officiating. Burial followed at the Highmore Cemetery.  Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Peggy was born January 12, 1949 in Pierre, SD Floyd and Mary (Mason) Meek.  She attended Chapelle School through the 8th grade and then graduated from Highmore High School 1967.

Peggy lived most of her life in the Sioux Falls area, working for insurance companies and part time at Yonkers as she loved the discounts and had the clothes to prove it. Peggy's greatest love was being a social butterfly as she enjoyed the company of all that she met.  She had a contagious laugh that was unmistakably genuine.  Peggy loved spending time on the family farm and spoiled her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.

Survivors include her brother, Delmas Meek of Holabird and a sister Jane, (Bill) Dunbar of Spearfish; nieces: Leslie Torpy and Jennifer (Brooke) Leighty; nephews: Keith Meek and Jim (Erin) Dunbar and all of their children; numerous cousins and a very supportive group of friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her brother Charlie and her parents.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Peggy’s arrangements.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I am so sorry to hear about Peggy’s passing. She was a dear friend whom I will miss greatly. My heart goes out to you during this this difficult time.

  2. I see Peggy’s fight is over. We all have so many memories that will carry us through this. Even though she isn’t in pain anymore doesn’t mean we will miss her any less. She was to young to leave us. I guess God had other plans, and as we all know, it doesn’t do any good to argue with him. So you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Babby

  3. Jim and I are both so sorry about the news of Peggy. She was always a cheerful and fun person to be around. Our class reunion will not be the same without her sense of humor. Our thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to her family.

  4. Meek family,
We are saddened to hear about Peggy’s passing but know she is no longer in pain and is now gabbing with those in Heaven who have gone before her.

What a good friend and classmate Peggy was to me. As a matter of fact,
all of the Meeks were good friends to me. The first I remember of Peggy,
I believe we were in the same Methodist confirmation class. I know
you will all miss her and I will miss her also. My thoughts are with
    you all.

  15. Peggys’s family–you have my deepest sympathies. Peggy was a good friend and will be deeply missed. From her inner thoughtfulness to that infectious laugh, she was geniune. I will truly miss her!!

    Jim, Erin, Tate, Hadley, Keegan
    and Quinn Dunbar

  17. What I am feeling is hard to put into words. I have a lot of I wish I would haves – one I wish I would have kept in contact with her. It sounds like she had a wonderful life – she always looked on the positive side.

She came to visit me in Nebraska once – I picked her up in Omaha. On our way to Lincoln we stopped for lunch at a little bar & grill. I played the jutebox thinking I pushed “Today is Your Birthday” by the Beatles – it was not. Everyone in the place gave us a hoot, bought our drinks and our lunch and wished Peggy “Happy Birthday”. We said thank you.

Please accept my condolences. Rogene Hall Class of 67

  18. I am very sorry for your loss of Peggy. I know this must be a tough time for you. At times like this encouragement can be found in God’s word the bible. There we can find comfort, 1 Corinthians 1:3,4-” Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation,” There we can also find hope, John 11:25- ” Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life,”These are just 2 of the many encouraging scriptures found in the bible. I hope this has brought you some much needed comfort, and know that you and your family will be in my prayers

  19. My sympathies, thoughts and prayers. I have so many good memories of Peggy during our years of growing up.
