Theresa Phyllis Bryant, 91, of Faulkton, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Faulkton Senior Living. 

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Faulkton, with Fr. John Short presiding. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Seneca. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the church, with visitation one-hour prior.   

Theresa Phyllis McGee was born January 3, 1934, in Gettysburg, SD.  She was the daughter of Sam McGee and Theresa (Tobin) McGee.  Tragically her father passed away on December 24, 1933, prior to her birth.  On January 27, 1951, Phyllis married James Bryant in Gettysburg, SD.  They farmed near Seneca, SD, raising their four children: Linda, Terri, Jeff and Jim.  In 1983, they moved to Gettysburg, SD where Phyllis was employed for many years at the Oahe Manor.  Following James’ death in 2010, Phyllis moved to Faulkton to be near family.

Phyllis is survived by daughters, Linda Bryant of Faulkton, SD and Terri (Tom) Ortmeier of Hardwick, MN; sons, Jeff (JoDee) Bryant of Faulkton, SD and Jim (Bobbie Jo) Bryant of Rapid City, SD; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dianna Binfet of Aberdeen, SD and Judy Shattuck of Yankton, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; grandchildren, Cody and Melissa Loken and Shelbie Bryant; great grandchild, Kylee Loken; brothers, Larry and William Shattuck; sister, Marilyn Swanson; brothers-in-law: Robert Binfet, Boyd Roseland, Wayne Stebbins and Marvin Swanson; and sisters-in-law: Delores Roseland and Lorretta Stebbins.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Phyllis’ arrangements.

  1. So sorry for your loss.  Phyllis was such a good friend to my mom Nila.  She was her roommate.  

  2. Phyllis and Jim were neighbors in Gettysburg. IWhat a dear friend. I worked at the hospital. When I had cancer, she gave me a gift which I still have. A very special individual in my life. May she rest in peace 🙏
