Roger LaVerne Larson was born September 11, 1936 to Alvin and Lorraine (Allbee) Larson in Faulkton, SD.  He attended schools in Faulk County and St. Paul, Minnesota.  He then studied for two years at SDSU in Brookings, SD.  In 1953, as a teenager, he went south with a custom combining crew.

On September 17, 1955 he married Maxine Stevenson at the Faulkton Methodist Church.  Together they raised ten children.  They lived at several locations over the years including: northwest Faulk county, central Faulk county, and the Orient area.  Throughout the years he was employed by Faulkton area farmers.

Roger was an avid Hampshire sheep breeder.  He was a member of the Hampshire Sheep Association, as are his two sons who have inherited his love of sheep.  A highlight for him was showing his sheep at local and state fairs.  For many years he was active in 4-H and also served as a 4-H leader.

Roger attended the United Church of Faulkton.  He enjoyed playing cards and was an enthusiastic gardener and always enjoyed sharing his garden produce with the community.  He often attended his grandchildren’s many activities.  He also enjoyed watching sports, especially wrestling, and he was an avid Duke fan!

Roger is survived by his children: Jerrine Larson of Faulkton, Charlene Larson of Sioux City, IA, Francine (Doug) Carlson of Lawton, IA, Dannine (Dave) Gnat of Ankeny, IA, Karlene (Jeff) Singer of Le Mars, IA, Corrine (Jerry) Weyand of Faulkton, Kristine (Tom) Meyer of Orient, Bradley (Jamie) Larson of Blair, NE and Brent (Gwen) Larson of White, SD; 20 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters: Arlene Carr of Aberdeen, SD and Marsha Ring of Rapid City, SD.
