Russell Anderson
September 9, 1956 ~ August 13, 2025
Russell D. Anderson, 68, of Gettysburg, SD, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
A celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the United Methodist Church, Gettysburg, with Pastor Laura Cook presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in the Carlson Cemetery, Viborg, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Russell David Anderson was born September 9, 1956, in Yankton, SD to Ray and Darleen (Bergquist) Anderson. He grew up on a farm near Viborg, SD.
Russell met the love of his life, Jeannee Andre at “Lover’s Lane” in 1974. They married on June 28, 1975, and just celebrated their 50th anniversary. They were blessed with three children, Teresa, David and Jeremy. Unfortunately, they lost David at birth.
Russell was a wonderful father but really shined when the grandbabies arrived. He loved to spoil them all.
Russell farmed near Viborg until the family moved to Edgemont, SD. He started his city maintenance supervisor career there which eventually led him to Gettysburg where he retired. He enjoyed retirement with Jeannee. They traveled and spent time with family and friends.
Russell will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Sympathy and prayers for the family. May God hold you all during this difficult time
We've known each since we were young pups on the farm. Thanks for actually "bailing" me out of a ditch or two. You were always right there taunting me with Viborg antics, memories, & sarcasm. Now you can ride those farmside
gravel roads & hills like crazy.
Rest in peace Russell, ya old fart. You'll be missed.

You’ve been in my prayers the past Month. He went way too young. Was good at his job with the City. Got right in the middle helping do the work. Stay strong Love and Prayers
I’ve always thought the world of Russ. He had a genuine smile for us girls and loved to tease us. What a great Dad! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless.
I have been with Northwest Pipe Fittings, Inc. for 53 years and the most rewarding part of my job was the day I met Russell from the City of Gettysburg. He was the most kindness and sincere person I had ever met. He definitely will be missed by everyone that he has ever had any contact with. Most of all I will miss our visits that we had after he retired. I am so sorry that I wasn't there for him at the end, but I am sure he knew my thoughts and prayers were with him and his family. Rest In Peace, Russell.
