Ruth Harrell, 84, of Miller, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center of Miller. Visitation will be Friday, November 21 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Rembold Funeral Home in St. Lawrence, SD with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Ruths funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with Pastor Bob Ohnstad officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials.

Ruth Eschenbaum was born April 13, 1924 in Logan Township to Henry and Lena (Engelmann) Eschenbaum. She attended White School in Ohio Township and Miller High School. She moved to Chicago, IL and worked for a short time before moving to Seattle, WA where she worked as a drill-press operator, making ammunition for Boeing Aircraft Corporation during World War II.

After the war, Ruth moved to Pierre and on September 9, 1947 married Wilbert Bechtold of Highmore. To this union three children were born. Wilbert died in March of 1952. On April 17, 1953, she married Ola Ray Harrell at Miller, SD. Three children were born to this union. She spent her life as a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Ola; six children, Dennis (Joy) Bechtold of Fruita, CO; Kenneth Bechtold of Huron; Teresa Venjohn of Watertown; Delvin Harrell of Englewood, CO; Melvin (Vicki) Harrell of Aberdeen; Bill (Correen) Harrell of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Duane (Roberta) Eschenbaum of Baltic; two sisters, Mary Ann Clodt of Inyokern, CA; JoDean (Vernon) Joy of Miller; one sister-in-law, Donna Eschenbaum of Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wilbert; two brothers, Robert and Harold; and one sister-in-law, Vonnie Eschenbaum.

Pallbearers are Keith Joy, Kurt Joy, Harrison Eschenbaum, Jeff Eschenbaum, Jim Eschenbaum, Lynn Harrell, Harry Harrell, and Darvin Harrell.
