Marcella Lillian Sally (Manning) Brock, 74, of Miller, died Sunday, May 17 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. Visitation will be Friday, May 22 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Rembold Funeral Home in St. Lawrence with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23 at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with Rev. Beth Kelsey-Engelmann officiating. Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery at Ree Heights.
Marcella Lillian Manning was born July 21, 1934 in Hand County, South Dakota to James and Mable (Rundle) Manning. She was raised in the Miller area and attended country school, Miller Grade School and Miller High School. She worked at the Coffee Cup Caf and The Green Lantern Caf. On May 20, 1953 she was united in marriage to Earl J. Shorty Brock in Harrold, SD. To this union three children were born. Earl and Sally made their home in Ree Heights until December 1967 when they moved to Arizona to manage a cutting horse ranch and raise their children. Sally worked for Sabas Western Stores for several years, and later became a licensed florist.
Sallys joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved planting flowers anywhere and everywhere, even in the neighbors yard when they werent home. She loved making wedding arrangements and bouquets and decorating for all the holidays, Easter being her favorite. After living in Arizona for 32 years she returned home to Miller in 1999.
Survivors include three children, Karen Brock of Tonto Basin, AZ, Michael (Laurie Martin) Brock of Scottsdale, AZ, and Sharen (John) Lingscheit of Ree Heights; ten grandchildren, Clayton (Megan) Alford, Quincy (Brandon) Brewer, Cole Alford, Kristin Brock, Michael (Crystal) Brock, Dustin, Cutter, Dakota and Chance Murray, and Shelby Lingscheit. Eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Krislyn and Mckenna Alford, Kaylee Brewer, Bryce, Treyce, Ryland and Kayden Fleming. Three step great-grandchildren, Bailee, Bodee and Bradlee Brewer; one sister, Ellen (John) Bawdon of Highmore; many nieces and Nephews; four sisters-in-law, Janice Manning, Mona Brock, Faye Grable and Dorothy Manning; one brother in-law Kenneth (Zada) Brock.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl J. Shorty Brock, her parents James and Mable Manning, 7 brothers, John, Bill, James, Leo, Raymond, Martin and Artie, three sisters, Mary Parmely, Florence Danielson and Theresa Peck.
