Scott Oligmueller, 59, of St. Lawrence, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Miller, with Father Paul Josten, celebrant.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2023, with a prayer service following at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Miller.

Scott Alan was born May 27, 1963, in Huron, South Dakota to Fred and Bev (Hanks) Oligmueller.  Scott attended school in St. Lawrence until 8th grade and then attended Miller High School, graduating in 1981.  He then furthered his education at South Dakota State University, graduating in 1986 with an Animal Science degree.  After graduation, he returned to the farm working alongside his dad and uncles.

On September 10, 1988, he married Brenda Jensen in Chamberlain, South Dakota.  To this union, three daughters were born: Heather, Paige, and Rachel.  Scott and Brenda made their life together farming and ranching.  In 2008, he took over the farm from his father.  He was a very humble man, but prided himself on the farm he was able to build and his extensive knowledge in running his feedlot.  In 2007, he began helping at funerals for Luce, Luze, and Reck Funeral Homes. His soft-spoken, caring manner was felt and appreciated by each family he helped serve.

Community involvement and giving back was vital in Scott’s life.  For several years, he was part of the Miller Chain Gang at all the Miller home football games, belonged to the Knights of Columbus, was a CCD teacher at church, and served on the Mid Dakota board of directors.  In recent years, he enjoyed playing golf.  Scott never sat still.  He was always moving and needing to do something.

He was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  His faith in Christ was the center of his life.  Although he never had to say many words about his faith, his way of life spoke for it.

Most of all, his favorite times were feeding cattle and farming.  He loved being in the tractor or combining and the best part was having his grandchildren with him.

Forever grateful for celebrating Scott’s life is his wife, Brenda of St. Lawrence; daughters: Heather (Michael) Hammill of St. Lawrence, Paige (Ross) Larson of Cyrus, MN; and Rachel (Devin) Letsche of Miller; grandchildren: Kynslee, Knox, and Kade Hammill and Brax, Brandt, and Brylee Larson; father, Fred Oligmueller; siblings: Rick (Vicki) Oligmueller of Miller and Julie (Brian) Haake of Lewiston, MN; mother-in-law, Joann Jensen of Sioux Falls; and nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bev; father-in-law, Bob Jensen; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Scott's arrangements.
