Sharon L Geist, 79, of Faulkton, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Faulkton Senior Living.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton, with Pastor LaShea Avery presiding. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Wecota.
Sharon LaVae Fogel was born on January 8, 1941, to Monty and Mary (Hammrich) Fogel in Aberdeen, SD. She attended school in Aberdeen.
Sharon married Morris Geist on October 4th, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD. Together they lived in the Seneca, Mesa, AZ, Bowdle, Aberdeen, Downey, CA, Cresbard, and Faulkton areas. She worked at the Snack Shop in Faulkton, as a CNA, at a greenhouse, and helped with the farm work. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wecota, SD and participated in the Lutheran Ladies Aid (LLA).
Sharon loved spending time with her family, camping, and reading. She was a skilled bowler, including winning a Most Improved Award, as well as a Card and Bingo player. She liked to share her canning skills with her family and friends and would often brag that she shared a birthday with Elvis. She loved singing and especially loved when her husband Morris sang to her. Sharon will be remembered for her infectious smile.
Surviving Sharon are her husband of 63 years, Morris, of Faulkton, children Tim (Betty) Geist of Conde, Jeff (Rochelle) Geist of Newell, Shelley Tietz of Faulkton, and Terry (Jackie Moment) of Rapid City, son-in-law Dan Melius of Miranda, 16 Grandchildren, and 23 Great-Grandchildren; siblings Dennis (Linda) Fogel of Aberdeen, Jim Fogel of Aberdeen, David (Carol) Fogel of Pequot Lakes, MN, Norman Fogel of Minneapolis, MN and Linda Fogel of Aberdeen, sisters-in-law Alice DeVoss of Aberdeen and Shirley Masten of Custer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Susan Melius, siblings Monty “Butch” Fogel, Loretta Boulais, Mick Fogel, and Beverly Lout, grandson Gabriel Geist, and great-granddaughter Kinsley Tietz.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Sharon’s arrangements.




i have had known Sharon Geist for a lot of years and they really truly were the best years of my life getting to know an amazing lady like herself… she was caring, kind, friendly, and had the biggest hearts of them all… i am going to very much miss you, my best friend…

i wanted to sign this again because i really truly do feel bad for Shelley Tietz and for her whole family and for everybody else… that's true i didn't know her but you know what guys… when someone dies i really truly do feel very sad for them and for that person because really truly to me, that person who passed away always find a special place in people's hearts and really truly, Shelley Tietz's mom found a special place in my heart and Sharon has impacted my heart with her beautiful hands and feet which i always and forever will cherish FOREVER!!!

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. I hope that you can find peace and comfort in the hope that our Heavenly Father Jehovah has given us in His Word the Bible, at Acts 24:15- "………There will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.", and at Psalm 37:29 – "The righteous will possess the earth, and they will love forever on it."
