Sharon Marie Landeis Holmes was born on February 3, 1948, to Leo and Hildegard (Leingang) Landeis in Bismarck, ND.  They lived on a farm near Walker, SD until 1956 when they moved to Mandan, ND.  Sharon attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School, Mandan High School, and Bernel Hairstyling College in Bismarck.  She married Darrell Peterman of Miller, SD, and from this union, two children were born, Brian and Bradley Peterman.  She later married Gerald Holmes of Faulkton, SD.

She worked at both the Miller and Faulkton Super Valu’s for many years as a cashier first and then as a baker.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed reading, vegetable gardening, which she learned from her father, and growing as many flowers as possible.  In 2018, she moved to Crooks, SD, to be closer to her son and son-in-law.  Together, they thoroughly enjoyed trying new places to eat, attending Broadway shows at the Washington Pavilion, and most of all, traveling to and from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to spend time on the beach soaking up the sun with her new-found Mexican family (Diego’s family) who she loved and adored very much!

She is survived by sons, Brian and Bradley Peterman; son-in-law, Diego Rodriguez-Sanchez; stepsons, Brian (Karin) Holmes and Jon J. (Shari) Holmes; stepdaughter, Karin (John) Jackson; nephews, Jason (Danielle) Landeis and Justin (Karla) Landeis; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by both her maternal and paternal grandparents; parents, Leo and Hildegard Landeis; husband, Gerald Holmes; stepson, Robert Holmes; and her only brother, David Landeis.
