Stacy was born on March 23, 1970, in Miller, South Dakota, to Barry and Reta (Smith) Rodman. She was the beloved older sister of Tonia Warzecha and her husband, Greg. Stacy grew up in Highmore, graduating from Highmore High School in 1988. She went on to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing from Huron University in Huron, South Dakota.
For several years, Stacy served as a nurse, dedicating herself to caring for the elderly in nursing homes. She found joy in their stories, often laughing at the wit and wisdom of the generation before her. Her compassion and genuine appreciation for each and every person made her a natural caregiver.
Stacy later found her calling as the Director of the Boys and Girls Club in Dillingham, Alaska, where she met the father of her children. She was a devoted mother to William, Barry, and Ana, and eventually brought them back to South Dakota to raise them with the values of family, community, and belonging alongside her own parents, Barry and Reta. She continued her career serving others through her work with the South Dakota Department of Health in Pierre until her health challenges made it impossible to continue.
Growing up, Stacy and Tonia spent many hours playing Barbies, board games, and dress-up with each other and the neighborhood gang. As they got older, the entertainment switched to playing cards around the table and laughing with friends. As an adult, she loved cross-stitching, making jewelry, crocheting, collecting vintage dishes, and solving crossword puzzles. Despite a life marked by ongoing medical issues, Stacy had an adventurous spirit and a fearless heart. She wasn't afraid to try new things or step into new chapters.
Among her greatest joys was being an aunt. She cherished every moment with her “Precious” Khia and delighted in the humor and spirit of her nephews, Lane and Logan.
Stacy is survived by her three children: William Johnson of Highmore; Barry (Carrolynn) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; and Ana Johnson of Highmore; her father, Barry Rodman and Connie Fox of Watertown, SD; her sister, Tonia (Greg) Warzecha of North Sioux City, SD; niece and goddaughter, Khia (Cullen) Walser and son, Jack of Brandon, SD; nephew, Lane (Brooke) Warzecha and sons, Myles and Paxton of Brookings, SD, and nephew, Logan (Madison) Warzecha and son, Graham of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Reta Rodman; her uncle, Terry Rodman; her grandparents; and several great-aunts and great-uncles.
Stacy’s legacy lives on in her children, her family, and the many lives she touched with her laughter, her courage, and her boundless heart.
A mother holds her children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Stacy's arrangements.
