Taryn Lynn “T-Dawg” Reddog was born June 12, 1976 to Leon Sr. and Cecelia (Cook) Reddog at the Eagle Butte PHS facility. She grew up on the Cheyenne River Reservation, attending school in Eagle Butte and Takini, and later receiving her G.E.D.

In August of 1994, she had a daughter, Susan Margaret. For 13 years it was just her and Margaret, until 2007 when Tyler Jerome was born. In 2012, she gave birth to another baby, Kale Michael. Taryn was all about her children and grandbabies. She was there for three of her four grandbabies’ births. Every chance she had she drove to Pierre to be with her grandbabies.

Taryn loved her family and attended family events regularly. Her famous blueberry chocolate cake was requested often for family gatherings. She traveled with her dad and her brother, “Boss”. They made sure to support the Hihan Wakpa Sundance every year.

She had many friends. She had memories of visiting them often and having many adventures with them. Jason was her “bestie” and they counted on one another through many of life’s moments. Music was important to Taryn, and she was always excited to share her newest favorite song with Muggs. She liked to take drives and jam out with various family members. Whenever she wasn’t listening to music or hanging with family, she was always home with her boys watching movies or talking on the phone with friends or family.

Taryn had worked at the WIC Office for a time. When she became a Lakota language teacher in the school, her relatives were very proud of her. She had many mentors to support her, and Dawnee told her that Leski Leon was very proud of her. They sat together and shared stories of all Lakota words and phrases he had taught them.

Growing up, Taryn was called “Poxie” by everyone. She had many cousins that she played with when she was young.

Taryn was the best friend, mother, and grandma that there was. Her smile was big and bright, and her laughter lingers with us still. She definitely had a heart of gold.

Grateful to have shared her life are her babies: Margaret (Lijah), Tyler and Kale; grandchildren: Kahliyah, Junior, Kadence, and Abigail; nephews: Quade, Forrest, Kipp, Marckis, and Quiency; nieces: Cissie, Jordan, Jessika, and Kristan; hunka brothers: Floyd Annis and Kory Annis; hunka sisters: Carmen Annis and Kay Annis; hunka mom, Susie Payne; aunties: Benita Clark and Sylvia Picotte; grandma, Candace Lee, Sandy Frazier, and Carmen O’Leary.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Kaye Marie Reddog Clown and Leon “Boss” Reddog; and grandparents, Leo and Ruby Reddog.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Taryn’s arrangements.
