Todd P. Brand, age 58, of Faulkton, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from cancer treatment complications at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.
A celebration of life will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Candice Wick presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Todd was the son of Douglas and Linda Brand of Watertown, SD. Todd was born in Salina, Kansas on January 14,1966. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Lamberton, MN. This is where Todd was graced with two sisters, Dulcie and Heather. He was never pleased when his sisters messed with his GI Joe’s. He also never let them forget it!! At every family gathering there was some sort of reminder.
He enjoyed farm life with his dad, uncle, and grandfather. They also introduced him to the life of custom harvesting. Brand Harvesting and then a name change, Brand Harvesting and Trucking. His school years were spent in Lamberton but when the family moved a few short miles to the west to Revere his sophomore year of high school his education location changed to Walnut Grove. Upon graduation, Todd went to play college football for U of M in Crookston, MN. After a year at Crookston, he enlisted in the army and upon discharge he joined in harvesting with his dad.
Their harvest run hadn’t changed much in 40 years, so it was familiar to Todd and so were the families they continued to harvest for. Orient, SD was a yearly stop where they all seemed to let their hair down a bit. This is where he met his soon-to-be wife, Michelle Goldade. Apparently, Todd knew what he wanted or possibly found a sucker. Either way it worked well for them for 27 years. As Todd said, “I only have to do this kind of date night once a year so let’s do it all on one day.” They were married on December 31, 1996, during a blizzard.
To this marriage four children were born; twin sons Cole and Connor, daughter Chloe and bringing up the caboose is Cord.
Todd enjoyed raising his family in this small community. He and Michelle watched with pride and joy all of their children’s activities. He was their biggest fan and always had some small piece of advice for them. Along with being a proud father, Todd was a proud coach. He taught many lessons on and off the court/field. Todd enjoyed his time spent coaching and cherished every memory with each of his players. During his treatments, Todd was notorious for bragging about his children and their accomplishments. He always had a dad joke to make the nurses smile. He always said, “It does nobody any good for me to be angry or sad, so let’s laugh.”
Todd’s life is cherished by his parents, Doug and Linda; wife, Michelle; children: Cole (Savannah Martin), Heber City, Utah, Connor (Jasmine Lingen), Seneca, Chloe (Colby Merkel), Groton, and Cord, Faulkton; sister, Dulcie and her children, Sophia and Joie; sister, Heather, Anoka, MN; uncle, Mitch (Glenda), Maple Lake, MN; mother-in-law, Glenda and sister-in-law, Kristi both of Seneca; many uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by an angel baby; grandparents: Donald and Lorraine Brand, Carl and Lola Niemann; aunt and uncle, Chloe and Pete Lussier; father-in-law, Francis Goldade; and grandparents-in-law, Glenn and Mildred Stebbins.
Despite Todd’s cancer, he was able to give life by donating his corneas. Memorials in Todd’s honor will be distributed according to the family’s wishes.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Todd’s arrangements.
