VENA'S TRIBUTE VIDEO

Vena G. Manfull passed away at Gettysburg Memorial Hospital on Wed, April 1 after gracing us all with her gentle heart, strong mind and beautiful smile for 77 years.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Grace Bible Church in Gettysburg with Pastor Dick Nickel officiating. Burial followed in the Gettysburg Cemetery, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg. Visitation was held from 3:00 to 5:00 Saturday, April 4, 2009 with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service at  Grace Bible Church.

Vena G. Stoddard was born on the family farmhouse outside of Mount Vernon, South Dakota on January 20, 1932 to James and Viola (Staller) Stoddard. During her childhood 4-H and church were a large part of her life. She graduated from Northern State Teachers College in 1950 with a B.S. in music and English education, then began to share her gifts teaching in Gettysburg, Webster, and Rapid City. After marrying Keith Manfull on June 12, 1960 in Gettysburg, they were blessed with the births of Arlo and Carma during the three years they made their home there. Karen was born after a move to Durango, Colorado in 1964 where they lived for three years until making their way back to the family farm outside Gettysburg. Upon moving into the town of Gettysburg in 1990, Vena continued to be blessed with many dear friends and was thrilled to be involved in her grandchildrens’ happenings. Over the years, Vena directed many choirs and groups for church and community events. She was an avid reader and loved to write, we will miss her beautiful words and music.

Survivors include her son: Arlo (Kathy) and children Kyrstyn, Landyn and Riley of Billings, MT; daughters: Carma (Ed) Wager and children Mark, Samantha and Jessika of Gettysburg and Karen of Santa Rosa, CA; one sister: June Montenegro of Norwalk, California and two sister in-laws: Verla (Herb) Jungemann of Seward, NE and Lila (Al) Houck-Urlis of Ft. Pierre

Vena was preceded in death by her husband Kieth in 2008; her parents and one brother, Vern.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entursted with Vena's arrangements.

  9. Rejoice in the death and ressurection of our Lord as you mourn the loss of your mother.We knew both of your parents well. Kenneth was a neighbor of your dad and sisters as they were growing up. Sorry we were not able to be at Vena’s funeral. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

    I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I didn’t get the word until after the funeral that your mom passed away or I would have come to the funeral.

    I have great memories of her and your dad and you kids. We had some fun times when we were little!

  13. Vena was a kind and helpful cousin who helped me with some Staller family history research. I spoke with her on the phone a few times and we exchanged some letters about family. She had a love of family and and an interest in seeing the family history preserved for future generations! Although I never met her in person, she left an impression on me! I am so sorry for your loss!
