Virginia A. (Bryant) Lager, 91, of Gettysburg, formerly of Watertown, passed away Wednesday, November 09, 2022, at Avera Oahe Manor, Gettysburg.
A celebration of life will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg with Pastor Jeff Adel presiding.
Virginia Ann Bryant, the youngest daughter out of seven children born to George W. and Rose L. (Thompson) Bryant was born January 23, 1931, in Potter County, SD.
Virginia grew up on the family farm where she worked very hard alongside of her other siblings. They always looked forward to the barn dances, which her parents would host in their barn loft on Saturday nights. Virginia attended county school south of Lebanon and after high school she moved to Aberdeen where she went to work for the Ward Hotel. While working there, she met Kenneth “Lucky” Lager. They were married in September 1973 at Gettysburg, SD. Together they ran Lagers Inn in Aberdeen. After they sold the business, they moved to Florida where they enjoyed time traveling and time on the water.
Following the death of her husband, Kenneth “Lucky” Lager, Virginia returned to South Dakota. In November 1996, she relocated to Watertown to be near one of her twin brothers, Kenneth Bryant, and family while working as a housekeeper for a local motel. In December 2012, she entered Avantara at Lake Norton, before transferring to Avera Oahe Manor in Gettysburg during the summer of 2013 to be closer to her other twin brother, Keith Bryant Sr., and family.
Virginia is survived by her step-son: Tom Lager; one brother, Keith Bryant Sr. of Blunt, SD; half-brothers: Dale, Dennis, and Marshall Bryant; half-sisters: Beverly Hedges, Marlene Bailey, Lila Lehman, Cathy Stumvoll, and Peggy Siebrasse; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth (May 15, 1995); sisters: Georgina Fenton, Ruby Morse, and twins, Betty Seals and Beverly Bryant; two brothers: Kenneth and Ernie Bryant; and one half-sister, Yvonne Weiszhaar.
Virginia will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was such a sweet caring lady, loved by all who knew her.

Will miss you
Aunty Virginia, was my Great-Aunt and I was so blessed to have had her in my life. She always opened her door for a visitor to have a place to stay. She was giving with whatever she had. She loved to have her home so neat and clean, always everything in it's place, down to the peanut dish and chocolate dish being kept filled on the coffee table. She used to always have her hair curled and used aquanet, I never once seen her with a hair out of place🙂! She was a tiny little women, full of spunk and nobody would know it to look at her, but I am sure she was one of the toughest women I've had the pleasure to know in my life. I miss her very much, and her cute comments. She once called my boyfriend at the time cute but said, "He is cuter than a bugs ear!" 😂 Also, even though something was bothersome to her, her way of "complaining" was still polite. I used too much hot water with too long of showers when I was a teen/early twenties, and how she'd say something about it was to say it must be because of all that hair I had (I was just reminded of that today☺). I miss her very much and am so grateful I got to love her. I pray God has her with my Grandpa and she is up there picking on him😉!
Virginia was my Aunt my dad Kenneth Bryant's sister, what a wonderful and kind woman she was.
She certainly will be missed by our family.
