Bruce Dyker
November 7, 1968 ~ October 26, 2016
Bruce Dyker, 47, of Gettysburg and formerly of Brisbane, Australia, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg, with Pastor Jeff Adel presiding.
Bruce S. Dyker was born November 7, 1968, in Melbourne, Australia, to Sydney and Dorothy (Hannah) Dyker and later moved to Brisbane, Australia with his family. Growing up, Bruce spent time on the beaches of the Gold Coast, and enjoyed spending time with his family. In 1984, he graduated from Ringwood Technical school, in Victoria, Australia.
Bruce worked for many years in the transportation industry where he acquired a love for semi-trucks. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with his dad at Cummings Diesel until his dad was diagnosed with cancer. Bruce cared for his dad during his illness up until his dad’s passing in 1996. They always had a close relationship.
In January 2012, Bruce met Brandi Valentz, whom he started dating shortly after. He moved to Gettysburg in May 2012, and the couple became engaged on January 5, 2014. They enjoyed spending time together with their dog, Emmie, and also traveling together, especially to the Black Hills. Bruce and Brandi both had a love for animals. Bruce especially loved wolves and dogs. It didn’t matter where he went, he was always drawn to dogs if any were around.
Bruce is survived by his fiancée, Brandi, Gettysburg; fur baby, Emmie; son, Anthony (Sammi) Dyker, Queensland, Australia; grandson, Syrus Dyker, Queensland, Australia; cousin, Donna-Maree (Mick) Dennis, Victoria, Australia; best friend, Adam (Sharon) McMillian, Victoria, Australia; future mother and father in-law, Steve and Diane Clifford, Gettysburg and Lewis Valentz (Cheryl Gregory), Farmdale, OH; and future brother-in-law, Lewie Valentz, Gettysburg.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Dorothy.
