Sheldon Red Bear, 46, of Eagle Butte, entered the spirit world Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte. He was surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MST, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Johnโ€™s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Bear Creek. A wake service will be 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at the church with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.

Sheldon Scott Red Bear was born on May 15, 1979, in Rapid City, SD. Sheldon was raised by his parents, Terrence Emanuel Red Bear and Darlene Ann Bagola in Bear Creek, SD, along with his siblings: Terri, Sean, Tristan and Deedra Red Bear. Sheldon went to school at Cheyenne Eagle Butte and proudly graduated in the Class of 1997.

After high school, Sheldon met Jenilee Two Crow in September 1998, and they were married from 2000 to 2005. From their union, Sheldon was blessed with five children: Jordana Yasmine Red Bear (Marcus Hollow Horn Jr.), Tyrese Jadian Red Bear, Keonna Ebony Red Bear, Julian Torrence Red Bear and Shadyn Laโ€™damion Red Bear. His children were the greatest joys of his life. Sheldon met Devona Pretty Weasel on December 2, 2016 and helped raise her sons, nephews and nieces.

Sheldon loved riding horses with his cousins and friends and being a wild country boy keeping his parents on their toes. Sheldon enjoyed running cross country during high school. He loved to explore new things during his adventures, meeting new people and visiting them. Sheldon, along with his brothers, were his dadโ€™s helping hands when it came to ranching. Sheldon loved to keep himself busy by helping people in need.ย  He loved to see his kids grow up and watch their football and volleyball games or any other activities. Sheldonโ€™s work experience began when he worked at the Eagle Butte Indian Health Service in Emergency Medical Services, as a security guard and motor vehicle operator, Teton Ambulance service as dispatcher, CRST Housing Authority as maintenance worker, Lakota Thrifty Mart as security and stocker, and at Covid checkpoints.

Sheldon survived by his children; his partner, Devona Pretty Weasel; sister: Deedra (Jack) Lawrence of Eagle Butte, SD; brothers: Sean Red Bear and Tristan Red Bear both of Bear Creek, SD; aunts: Gloria (Scott Sr.) Laundreaux of Eagle Butte, SD, Debra Guardipee of Eagle Butte, SD,ย  Cindy (Sylvester Sr.) Schad of Eagle Butte, SD, Lu Anne (Marty) Oas of Eagle Butte, SD, Deloris Bagola of Eagle Butte, SD; uncles: Emanuel Red Bear II and Dale (Arlys) Bagola both of Eagle Butte, SD; nephews, Brad Red Bear of Rapid City, SD, Mitchell Fielder of Eagle Butte of SD; nieces, Charlie Red Bear of Bear Creek, SD, Priscilla and Arianna High Bear of Eagle Butte, SD; along with grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents, Terrance Red Bear and Darlene Bagola; adopted father, Aaron David West Sr.; sister, Terri Red Bear-Belt; and daughter, Spensha Red Bear.

Sheldon will be remembered for his deep love for his family and friends and with meaningful connections he formed with everyone he met. He carried a strong spirit, a kind heart, and a presence that will never be forgotten. Sheldon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Sheldonโ€™s arrangements.
