Alfred “Hank” Henebry, 93, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital, Faulkton.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30a.m., Tuesday, May 29 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Faulkton with Fr. Paul Nereparmpil officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Military Honors, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton. Visitation was held from 2-6pm Monday, May 28 at the funeral home.

Alfred Garrett Henebry was born March 3, 1914 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Garrett and Margaret (Brennan) Henebry. His father died when he was a year old and his mother died when he was seven years old so he was raised by his older sisters.

“Hank” grew up in Waterbury, attending school and graduating from Crosby High School. Upon graduation he worked for two years and then attended Castleton College in Vermont graduating with a teaching certificate. He taught for one year at Rochester, Vermont until enlisting in the Navy. During World War II he was trained as a Medic, serving in the South Pacific on a hospital ship until the war ended. It was during this time he received the knick-name “Hank” that he had the rest of his life. He received a Masters of Education degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He taught English and was a guidance counselor in the Arlington, Virginia school system for 25 years.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Bachmayer in Temple Hills, Maryland on August 2, 1972. They visited many times with her family in the Faulkton area, moving to Faulkton in April 2005.

“Hank” was an avid reader, enjoying poetry, classics, history and Shakespeare sonnets. He was also an outdoors man, enjoying swimming and fishing. He and Katherine spent summers at South Hero, Vermont relaxing and fishing on Lake Champlain.

“Hank” is survived by his wife Katherine; nieces Edna Kenny, Edna (Weaver) Upson
both of Green Acres, Florida, Ardythe (Arnold) Stanio~East Haven, Connecticut; nephews Garrett (Linda) Erwin~Holyoke, Massachusetts, Robert (Jacqueline) Erwin, Jr. ~Lakewood, Florida, John Erwin~Venice, Florida; sister-in-law Joyce Arneson ~Faulkton; brother-in-law Romauld Bachmayer~LaCanada, California, many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, six sisters and two brothers.
