Alfred J. Pascoe was born October 17, 1939 in Wall, South Dakota to Donald A. and Anna Katherine (Donner) Pascoe. He attended country school and the 9th grade in Quinn, SD.
On May 6, 1961 he married Etta Mae Farrell at the Chapel in Igloo, SD. Together they farmed north of Wall for a short time on the family ranch. In 1959 he went to work at the Minute Men Missile Sites working in all of the phases; remaining there until their closing in 1963. Alfred went on to work from 1963 to 1966 at the Homestake Mine. From 1967 to 1968 the family moved to Highmore, Ree Heights and Huron areas where Alfred worked for area farmers. In October of 1969 they moved to California. Here Alfred was a jack of all trades. He preferred the farm and ranching life but spent most of his time doing tree trimming, cutting firewood, working the cannery and providing security. They remained in California until October 1973. They returned to Highmore working various jobs for area farmers until 1975 when the family moved west river to work until 1979. From 1979 to 1992 they lived in Philip, SD and from 1992-1997 in Interior. In 1997 Alfred and Etta returned to Highmore where Alfred served as a commercial weed and pest controller.
Alfred enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, going to coffee, spending time with family and friends and playing games and cribbage. He loved to watch western movies and also like the song, “Home on the Range”. Alfred always stated that this song was the only one worth anything.
Alfred leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Etta Mae of Highmore; his three children: Rebecca (Kenny) Lyons of Onida, Timothy Gerard Pascoe of Highmore and Lavonda Diane Pascoe Alderman of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren: Leigh “Lee” Pascoe of Highmore, Derek Alderman and Sharon Pascoe of Lincoln, NE, Shannon (Meydin) Portillo of Crete, NE, Kari-Anne Lyons of Onida and Erin Keiser of Sioux Center, IA; one great grandson: Franklin Godoy of Lincoln, NE; siblings: Caroline Clink of Modesto, CA, Donna Stotts of Rock Springs, WY, Lila Hutson of Modesto, CA, Betty (John “Hime”) Bourk of Sturgis, and Nick Pascoe of Rock Springs, WY; a host of nieces and nephews and many many friends.
