Alice Mareska, 90, of Miller, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the Highmore Health in Highmore.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with visitation one-hour prior. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller.

Alice Irene was born July 8, 1929 to Art and Mary (Chase) Hibbison at Miller. She graduated from Miller High School in 1947. She went to Pierre and worked at the State Capitol. She then worked for Jessie Moncur as a secretary for the South Dakota Board of Cosmetology at Miller.

On October 15, 1949, she married Edward Mareska at Kimball. They lived on a farm southwest of Kimball. In 1952, they moved to west of Miller where they lived until December 1960. She worked for the A.S.C.S office at Miller for 27 years. She also sold Avon.

In her free time, she belonged to the Merry Homemakers Club and Garden Club. She enjoyed bingo and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Greg (Kathy) Mareska of Chattanooga, Tn, Dick (Carol) Mareska of Rapid City, Mike Mareska of Miller, Brad (Susan) Mareska of Mobridge, and Yvonne Bate of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; and two brothers: Fred and Gordon.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Alice's arrangements.

  8. My condolences to you all on your mother's passing. Speirs School and our "old neighborhood" seems like ages ago, and guess it is, but I will always remember Alice's smile. May you all be blessed with the good memories you have of her.
