Allene Volek, 92 years, 4 months, and 11 days, of Highmore, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Highmore Healthcare Center.
Funeral services were 1:30p.m. Monday, January 15 at the United Methodist Church, Highmore with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Burial was in the Highmore Cemetery, directed by Luze Funeral Home of Highmore. Visitation was 3:00-7:00p.m. Sunday, January 14 with a 7:00p.m. prayer service at the Luze Funeral Home.
Allene was born August 19, 1914 in Boones County Nebraska to Mary Bourn. Allene’s mother died giving her birth. She lived with her grandmother for a short time until her death and then her aunt and uncle, Bertha and Ernest Anderson, near Clark, South Dakota, raised her. She was united in marriage to Clive Volek on November 1, 1936 in Clark. To this union, three sons were born.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the Hyde County Senior Center. She was a long time member of the Thimble Club and devoted many hours to the ladies group at church. She enjoyed the farm, gardening, baking, and playing cards. She treasured her family and friends.
Allene is survived by her sons: Clifford (Doloris), Charles (special friend Clara Goodrich) and Keith (Janice), all of Highmore; four grandchildren: Leann (Alan) Schell of Denver, CO, Shawn (Doug) LaMont of Carpenter, SD, Dustin and Britney Volek of Highmore; three great grandchildren: Taylon, Justin, and Kaitlyn LaMont of Carpenter; and one cousins: Walter Anderson of Clark.
She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; one daughter-in-law; and three cousins.
