Allyce Hall, 95 of Gettysburg and formerly of Seneca, died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m., Saturday, February 17 at the United Methodist Church in Seneca with Rev. Mike Ward officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, from 5-7p.m. at the Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg with a 7:00p.m. prayer service.

Allyce M. Hall was born December 5, 1911 at Lebanon, South Dakota to John and Winona (Edwards) Blum. She grew up in the Lebanon area graduating from Lebanon High School. She went on to school at Aberdeen College where she received her teaching certificate. Allyce taught school from 1966 to 1977 at Copp and East Pleasant View Schools.

On December 23, 1933 she married Lloyd Hall in Aberdeen, SD. They raised their family of five on a farm in the Seneca area. Together they moved into Seneca in 1978. While there she was active in the United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the Senior Citizens Center.

Her life will be cherished by her children: Hollis (Darleen) of Fairbanks, AK, Bob (Sue) of Sioux Falls, Raylene (Rowland) Geist of Tolstoy, Sherry (Bill) Witte of Gettysburg and Lynn (Bentley) Surdyk of Arlington, WA; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one sister Edna Abler of Palm Desert, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; and one brother: Merideth Blum.

  6. Though I never met Allyce, I feel as if I had with all the wonderful stories from Lynn. I know she was an amazing mother, wife, and friend simply by the life her daughter exhibits! May God’s grace, peace, and comfort be with all her family as she leaves life her on earth to join Lloyd with our Heavenly Father.
