Alvin Wolforth
November 6, 1926 ~ February 2, 2007
Alvin Wolforth, 80, of Agar, passed away Friday, February 02, 2007 at the Gettysburg Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Gettysburg with Pastor O’Connell officiating. Burial was in the Gettysburg Cemetery, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg. Visitation was held from 1:00-7:00p.m. Monday, February 5, with a 7:00p.m. prayer service at the Luce Funeral Home.
Alvin George Wolforth was born November 6, 1926 at home in Sully County to George and Edna (Shoup) Wolforth. He grew up in that area where he attended school in Cora Township through the eighth grade.
At the age of 23 Alvin married Marvel May Martin on May 14, 1949. To this union seven children were born: Linda, Sharala, Gloria, Terry, Jack, Wayne and Ronda.
Alvin worked various jobs in the Gettysburg area until going to work for Ed Archer in the spring of 1952. It was at this time that he and Marvel moved North of Cotton Wood Lake where they raised their family. For 30 years he worked for Ed until going into farming on his own which he did until his retirement.
Left to cherish Alvin’s life are his children: Linda (Jerry) Goebel of Lebanon, Sharala (Brad) Sorensen of Hereford, Gloria Goebel of Lisco, NE, Terry Wolforth of Agar, Wayne (Deb) Wolforth of Brookings and Ronda Mittleider of Brookings; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a very special friend: Trudy LaRosh of Gettysburg; brothers: Edward (Lois) Wolforth of Kimball, NE and Gary (Diane) Wolforth of Aberdeen; and sisters: Betty Potts Kline of Spearfish, SD and Delores (Cherry) Allgood of Sheridan, CA.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Marvel, parents, son Jack and brother Orville.




Alvin was a great person. He always had a smile on his face. Even though I did not know Alvin for along time but what I did know if him he was a special person that would do anything for anyone. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Alvin and his fammily.
