Ardith Gussler, 87, of Worthington, MN, formerly of Rapid City and Miller, SD, died Monday, February 12 at her home.
The funeral services were held Thursday February 15 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Miller, SD with Rev. David Andrews officiating. Visitation was from 12:00 - 2:00 at the church. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller, directed Reck Funeral Home of Miller.
Ardith E. Dennis was born Jan 6, 1920 to John and Fanny (Trotman) Dennis in Burdette Township near Miller, SD and graduated from Miller High School in 1938. She attended St. Marys School of Nursing in Pierre and received her RN pin in 1941. She worked as a nurse at Hand County Hospital in Miller, SD, the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, SD, and Mountain View Nursing Home in Rapid City, SD. She was active in her church choir, serving for many years as choir director in Miller and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and visiting family and friends.
In 1943, she married Leon Karst in Miller, SD and they made their home there until his death in 1967. In 1969, she married Clarence Gussler and they made their home in Rapid City, SD until his death in 2005. They frequently spent winters after retirement in Arizona.
She is survived by her daughter and son, Mary Jo (Darrell) Stitt of Worthington, MN and Dennis (Margaret) Karst of Mantorville, MN, two step sons, Donald (Susan) Gussler of San Diego, CA and Jim Gussler of Sheridan, WY, and 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
