BennaBee Elaine Stewart, 80, of Miller, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, Miller with Rev. Matt Richards officiating.  Private burial will be at a later date at GAR Cemetery, Miller.  Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service with Rev. Mark Johnsen officiating, all at the church.

BennaBee Elaine Stewart, daughter of Irwin and Clara (Langbehn) Rawstern, was born March 16,1936 on the Darby place near Wolsey, SD. Due to Irwin working road construction, they also lived in Midland, SD and Edgemont, SD returning back to Wolsey to attend school.  She attended grade school in Wolsey.  The family moved to Onida in 1947, where she attended high school. 

She met and married Ken Stewart on June 21, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Pierre, SD.  To this union, they were blessed with five children: Cenera, Bob, Patti, Judy, and Tod.

The family moved due to Ken’s jobs and lived in Topeka and Wichita KS, and numerous places in South Dakota including Pierre, Ft. Pierre, Miller, Brookings, Burke, St. Lawrence, Redfield, Spearfish, and moved back to Miller in 2007.

BennaBee was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She loved gardening, working in the yard, and putting together puzzles.

Survivors include husband Ken Stewart of Miller; three daughters, Cenera (Bob) Davis of Sioux Falls, Patti (Terry) Stewart Dame of Mobridge, Judy (Kendall) Swedeen of Pierre; two sons, Robert (Lisa) Stewart of Moorcroft, WY, Tod (Kimberly) Stewart of Clinton, UT; sisters-in-law Beverly (Lyle) Baade of Hughson, CA and Mary Rawstern of Onida; brothers, Eldon Rawstern of Miller, Leo Rawstern of Rapid City; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents Irwin and Clara (Langbehn) Rawstern; sister-in-law JoAnne (Leo) Rawstern; brother Wayne (Mary) Rawstern; and numerous aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Children’s Reading and Prayer Garden, c/o First United Methodist Church, 610 East 4th Avenue Miller, SD 57362.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with BennaBee’s arrangements.
