Beverly J. Wilkinson, 83, of Faulkton, formerly of Miranda, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen surrounded by her family.

Memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2015 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman presiding. Inurnment followed in the Miranda Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the church.

Beverly was born February 11, 1932 to Lincoln and Ruby (Sutton) Wiley in Clark, SD. She graduated from Clark High School.

Beverly attended Presentation Sisters College in Aberdeen. In 1953 she earned her RN nursing degree. She worked at St. Luke’s hospital in Aberdeen, the Faulkton Hospital and Faulkton Nursing Home.

On June 27, 1954 Beverly was united in marriage to Dale Wilkinson Sr. at Plymouth Congregational Church in Clark. For 60 years they cherished dancing together and created a lifetime of happy memories for their children.

In 1960 Dale and Beverly purchased and operated Dale’s Market until 1984. She enjoyed filling in as a substitute at the Miranda Post Office. Beverly served the community of Miranda through the church, township, and cemetery boards. She was a member of Miranda and Faulkton Methodist churches; and was active in Miranda Ladies Aid, Rebekahs, United Methodist Women, and Busy Bees Club.

Beverly loved spending time with family, playing cards, and attending her grandchildren’s events. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, and having coffee with friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Dale (Diane) Wilkinson of Copperas Cove, Texas, Pam (Marv) Hutchinson of Faulkton, Jay (Crystal) Wilkinson of Salem, Deann (Brian) Bauer of Mellette, Keith (Stacie) Wilkinson of Aberdeen; 15 grandchildren- Shane (Susan), Tracy (Dusty), Crystal, Tabby, Kelli (Jerry), Jarrod (Alicia), Nick (Corrie), Miranda, Trevor, Brittany, Alex, Ethan, Isaac, Lauren, and Lincoln; 19 great-grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Carl Hagenlock of Onaka.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Kenneth Rimel, Bob Wiley, and sister, Lois Ulven.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Beverly’s arrangements.

  6. We are having a hard time believing that Bev is gone. Since Dale’s passing she has been thinking of her future and what she could do to help family and church. She seemed really excited. Her and I always had a special connection in. We have laughed a lot and reminisced a lot. I will miss that. Lean on one another for your support as I know this has been so unexpected. If we can help at all, please let us know.

  9. Kelli- I just watched your grandma’s video tribute. What a beautiful lady and what a beautiful life!!! The pictures showed the love both grandparents had for one another and their whole family.
