Blanche Bowker

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. MST, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Zintkala Hall in Cherry Creek with The Very Reverend Les Campbell officiating. Burial will follow St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery in Cherry Creek. A two-night wake will begin Tuesday, February 1, 2010 at 6:00p.m. MST with a procession into Cherry Creek on the hill east of town. A wake service will be held at 7:00p.m. MST, Wednesday evening.
Blanche Maria Bowker was born on October 25, 1966 at Eagle Butte, SD to Virgil Joseph and Susie (Slow) Bowker. She grew up in Cherry Creek along with her brothers and close friends. Some of those she called sisters! Blanche had a passion for running and listening to music, but she loved playing volleyball with her friends and visiting. She also loved looking our fro people and elderly. She was a good caring woman to everyone.
Soon after she was 19 years old she met her husband Alfred Greaves of On The Tree. When she turned 21 she had her first baby girl. Then at 27 she had her first baby son, at 34 years she had her second baby girl and her third child.
Blanche lived a happy life as a mother, wife, aunt, niece, daughter and sister. As she was getting older her passion changed from volleyball and running to dancing and loving her kids and family. She liked going on the pow-wow trails with the family. She also like gardening and growing things. She’ll always be missed and loved but never forgotten.
Blanche is survived by her husband: Alfred Greaves of Iron Lightning; children: Amanda Greaves, Leo Bowker-Greaves and Mapiya Umpo Bowker-Greaves all of Iron Lightning; brothers: Luther Lyle (Carma) and Marvin Derrill Bowker both of Cherry Creek; nephews: Tony Gates of California, Derril Bowker of Eagle Butte, Marvin Bowker Jr. of Rapid City and Alvin Bowker of Eagle Butte; niece; Lisa Bowker of Eagle Butte, Lynn Bowker of Bull Head and Vannessa Bowker of LaPlant and a host of many other nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Susie Bowker; Grandma Winnie Slow, Grandpa John Slow, Brother Ben Bowker and one granddaughter, Wami Ye To Zing Kala Tate Wi Neiss.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Blanche's arrangements.
