Brenda Veit
September 26, 1958 ~ April 22, 2019
Brenda Bernadine (Clown) Veit, 60, of Dupree, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Cheyenne River Health Center, IHS Hospital, Eagle Butte, after a four-year battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Dupree Multipurpose Building, Dupree, with Mother Margaret Watson presiding. Burial followed in the Dupree City Cemetery. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 with a procession from the two-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Brenda Bernadine Veit was born September 26, 1958 to Billy White and Betty Clown. She was the oldest of seven. Brenda grew up in Thunder Butte, SD where she was raised by her grandparents, James and Anna Clown. While living in Thunder Butte, Brenda attended school at Cheyenne Eagle Butte. The family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho and lived with the Sorenson family before moving to Dupree, where she lived with her aunt, Mary Clown and attended school. She later completed her GED at Cheyenne River Community College.
In 1976, Brenda married Frank Veit. Together they had eight children: Frankee, Ford, Colt, Sabra, Joni, Roy, Karyne and JoRae. Brenda was a very proud mother and loved each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Brenda worked for Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in various programs until she developed health issues. Brenda loved to play and watch softball and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Brenda is survived by her children: Frankee, Colt, Sabra (Marshall), Joni, Roy (Mikki), Karyne, and JoRae (Shailo Hollow Horn); her grandchildren: Sasha and Jimi Condon, Jackson and Matty Harrison, Jacelyn Harris, Mena Veit, Errickelle LaCompte, Selena Longbrake, Mason Schrempp, Ryder and Ramzi Veit, Chandler and Savannah Veit, Lilly Veit, Aalivyah, Pearl and River Hollow Horn; great-grandchildren: Roman Thompson, Kyran Condon, Tavien Felix, Kingstyn Oldman, Leila Larvie; two sisters: Lolly and Tammy Crow; two brothers: Asa and Kirk Crow; five longtime best friends: Jodie Freeman, Jolynn Little Wounded, Karen Little Wounded, Rebecca Brings Plenty, and Lisa Veit; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Brenda opened her home to many and loved them all as her own.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Ford Veit; parents: Billy White and Betty Clown; siblings: Lu James and Lawrence Rufus Crow Jr.; grandson, Range Hollow Horn; grandparents: James and Anna (Red Bird) Clown; aunts: Alma Bowker, Phoebe Brings Plenty, Carol Cochran, and Patricia Adams; and uncles: Tru Sr., Carlin Sr., Stuwart and Larry Clown.
Brenda was known for her heart of gold, her helping hand, and her storytelling no matter if it was about her or not.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Brenda’s arrangements.




Brenda was a very strong lady. She was loved by many. She had a huge heart. Always thinking of others. Brenda will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers to all.
