Camilla Azure
December 19, 1965 ~ June 12, 2011
Camilla Jean Azure, 45, of Ft. Thompson, entered the spirit world, Sunday June 12, 2011 at Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center in Chamberlain.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Fort Thompson Community Hall with Mother Liz Powers officiating. Burial followed at All Saints Cemetery at Ft. Thompson. An all night wake service will began at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 with a 7:00 p.m. wake service at the hall.
Camilla Jean Azure, the eighth child of Levi H. and Ernestine J. (Middletent) Azure, was born December 19, 1965. She was the youngest of eight children from this union.
Camilla graduated from high school at the Flandreau Indian School and shortly after graduation moved to Denver, CO. While she was there she met Ronald O. Alexander. Their first child, Megan M. Azure was born on May 2, 1986 and two years later their second child, Rogan J. Azure was born on April 27, 1988.
Camilla enjoyed listening to music, playing piano, and guitar. She also liked playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and reading. She was always on the move and loved traveling whenever possible. She was in her praise when she was with her grandbabies.
Camilla is survived by children: Megan Azure and Rogan Azure; grandchildren: Amerie Shields, Caprice Shields, Kenzii Withorn, Laleeyah Azure and Asanti Azure; sister: Charlene Azure; adopted sister: Karen Voice; brothers: Daniel “Mickey”, Leonard, Darrel “CoCo”, and Bruce Azure; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lori Azure; brother, Loren Azure; nephew, Zane Azure; and special friend, Mark Michalek.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Camilla’s arrangements.
