Cara Senn

Cara Jean Senn, 41, of Seneca, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at her sister’s home in Pierre surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Faulkton, with Fr. Christopher Hughes officiating. Burial followed in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Seneca. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, at the church, with visitation one hour prior.
Cara Jean Senn was born August 28, 1975 in Gettysburg, SD to Charles A. and Deon (Zens) Senn. Cara was born with a disability - Microcephaly/Cerebral Palsy, but that did not define her. She grew up in a small household filled with siblings who knew nothing more than that she was going to play, interact and be a part of all things.
Although Cara had no formal education, she was a teacher. Cara taught her family to be more loving and compassionate throughout her life. By example and by her eyes and smile, she was thankful to all who visited and cared for her, throughout the years: especially her mother. She taught her family to laugh better. She loved to hear crying babies, grandma Delores’ laugh, and dad’s cough. She enjoyed the sounds of music and hearing and watching her singing stuffed animal toys. She taught perseverance; even though doctors said as a child she had only a few years to live, she surpassed their expectations. She taught her family what it meant to be humble and had a way of making everyone appreciate their life more. She taught patience, and that if ones day wasn’t going good or as planned it could always be worse.
Cara’s interest included listening to music, dancing (always with a partner), and huge family gatherings. She was a great listener and kept many secrets. She will be deeply missed; however, her family knows she is home with Jesus and finally at peace.
Cara’s giggles were infectious. She truly taught her family the bigger meaning of love and family.
Those blessed to have been part of Cara’s life were her mother: Deon Senn, Seneca; her siblings: Carol (Rolland) Potter, Seneca, Joan (Richard) Hahn, Pierre, Charla Harford, Redfield, Jim (Liz) Senn, Mitchell, Joe (Jodi) Senn, Seneca, Jerry (Heather) Senn, Nisland, and Cheri (Shane) Moke, Belle Fourche; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cara was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents: Robert & Delores (Jankord) Zens; and paternal grandparents: Julius & Fae (Baugus) Senn.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Cara’s arrangements.

Today the Lord opened his arms and called Cara to live in paradise with him. Although she will be missed dearly by those who loved her, she will feel no more pain and will be singing and dancing with angels. My thoughts and prayers are with those who are mourning. May God give you strength and peace.
Charla and family, We are so very sorry for your loss. Cara was very lucky to have all of you in her life and I’m sure she left a very special love in your hearts. God will care for her now until you meet again.

I’m thinking about all of you right now and all my childhood memories with your family. Cara was a blessing for more years than the doctors said she would be. I believe her presence is one of the reasons your family is one of the most compassionate, understanding, and humble ones of know. I’m praying for you in this time of grief; but I’m also rejoicing for Cara now that she has her perfect body and is dancing with the saints in heaven.
My condolences to the Senn family for your loss. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. But God’s Word, the Bible, provides a hope that it is possible to be reunited with Cara again in the near future, right here on earth under peaceful and healthy conditions. Jesus promised at John 5:28 that millions now dead will live again. This is the hope of the resurrection. And since Jesus made this promise, we can be certain that he is both willing and able to fulfill it. Once again, I express my deepest sympathy.
Oh Deon, what a wonderful, loved by all, life you gave her. You are indeed caring people. My sympathy to all of you.
I am so sorry for the loss of your angel here on earth. She has now joined the angels in heaven.
