Carolyn Edna Lien was born on June 26, 1935, in Monrovia, CA to Edna (Jacobson) and Carl E. Lien. She attended school in Summit and was a cheerleader for the Eagles, graduating in 1953. Following graduation she taught in a country school near Summit for one year. She loved music, played trombone, taught herself to play piano, and sang at many functions, mostly alto and sometimes even tenor. She also loved to read, especially the Bible. Carolyn was a life-long and devoted member of the Methodist church.
Carolyn E. Lien and Odon E. Corr were united in marriage on October 2, 1954. Together they had 4 children, Jodie, Nancy, Greg, and Karie. She graduated with a teaching certificate in 1960 from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD and after the birth of her last child; she continued her schooling and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huron College in 1973. Carolyn taught in Custer, SD for 2 years and then took on the challenge of teaching 2nd grade in Miller for several years. A move to Steele, ND in 1981 brought her the opportunity for a new work experience with the Farmers Home Administration where she was employed for 10 years.
Of all the places Carolyn lived, Miller eventually became her favorite place to call home and she chose to spend her retirement years here surrounded by so many good friends. She also touched many lives during her 2 year employment at Experience Works, ending in 2009. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards, doing crosswords, board games, shooting pool, and doing handiwork for others, especially crochet. She loved to spend time with family and friends and was a wonderful conversationalist.
Carolyn is survived by her 4 children: Jodie (Michael) Dirksen, Mason City, IA; Nancy Froning, Miller, SD; Gregory Corr, Whitehall, MT; and Karie Waters, Wessington Springs, SD. Carolyn had a special place in her heart for each one of her grandchildren: Blake (Rachael), Riley, and Margaret Dirksen; Amber (Kevin) Froning Werdel; Jerrica and Keaton Corr; Shawn (Jesse) Waters Block, Weston and Matt Waters. Carolyn is also survived by her brothers Ronald (Maxine) Lien, Vancouver, WA and Robert (Cheri) Lien, Aberdeen, SD.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Edna Lien and her son-in-law David Froning.
Rembold Funeral Home of St. Lawrence has been entrusted with Carolyns arrangements.

I do not know where time has gone…and I am finally getting this to you. It was awesome getting to know your mother again, I enjoyed her a great deal in the Bible study we did together. I so appreciated her warmth, intelligence, perspective and humor.
I missed her so when she no longer came to services.
She is and was a great human being. She will be sorely missed.
I am sorry for the lateness however I wanted you to know.
God bless you always…deb Carr
My deepest sympathy go out to your family during this time of sorrow. The death of a love one is very difficult. Therefore, I’d like to share scripture that may help. Please, read John 6:40, 44.
Miss you BIG Mom….what a joyous Easter you’re having in heaven…..see you later.
