Clara Hoffman

Clara Mae Hoffman, 89, of Highmore, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Highmore Health.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Highmore with Rev. Sara C. Kayser officiating. Burial followed at Medicine Hill Cemetery, Harrold. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore.
Clara Mae “Carrie” (Carroll) Hoffman was born January 21, 1929 at Florence, SD, to Johnny and Estella (Morrison) Carroll. She grew up south of Harrold and attended school in rural Harrold, SD; later graduating from Pierre High School.
She married Arnold Hoffman in December of 1947, in Miller, SD. They made their home in rural Harrold/Highmore, SD area. They were blessed with six children.
In 1985, they moved into Highmore and she worked for Straight’s Corner, Highmore Health Care and Hoffman’s Service, along with several other odd jobs. When she was not working, she enjoyed reading, watching baseball, square dancing, going to and watching rodeos, and spending time with family and friends.
At family gatherings, she would be sure to make some of her family’s favorite foods. Macaroni and wieners, homemade buns, carrot and raisin salad, chocolate cake, and chocolate chip cookies were on the top of the list. Many of the fondest memories of her family revolve around the making and eating of the favorites.
Grateful for having shared her life are her four children: Jim (Ruby) Hoffman, Morris (Debb) Hoffman, Connie (Diane) Hoffman, all of Highmore, Myra (Tim) Brothers of El Reno, OK; 12 grandchildren: Leanne Hoffman, Ken (Amy) Hoffman of Highmore, John (Kim) Hoffman of Pierre, Kristi (Darrel) Hinkle of Holabird, Jeremy (Sarah) VanTessel of Lead, Mychal (Jennifer) Hoffman of Billings, MT, Kristi (Dane) Dobesh of Belle Fourche, Lisa (Kyle) Kolda of Sioux Falls, Laura (Josh) Kurtenbach, Mitchell, Jacob (Albert) Brothers, Los Angeles, CA, Garret (Heather) Brothers, Carrie “Sissy” (Jennifer) Brothers of El Reno, OK; 22 great-grandchildren: Samantha and Tate Hoffman, Joe and Morgan Hoffman, Carson and Brynn Stoeser, Brittany, Shelby, Justin, and Connor Hinkle, Ethan VanTessel, Payton and Mason Hoffman, Kasey, Avery, Kortney, and Emery Dobesh, Ava and Cruz Kurtenbach, McDaniel Brothers, Emma and Declan Brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Clara Mae's arrangements.

My deep sympathy to you all. Carrie was loved by many and will be fondly remembered. I know her and Arnold and Bud and Mom spent a lot of time together. Time for a reunion in heaven! Keep remembering her and she will be with you always in your heart.
