Daesia Laree Dupree, 15, of Eagle Butte, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at I.H.S Hospital, Eagle Butte.
Funeral services was held at 10:00 a.m. MST, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Cheyenne Eagle Butte Auditorium, Eagle Butte, with Mother Margaret Watson officiating. Burial followed in the <> D <> Family Cemetery, Iron Lightning. Wake services was held at 7:00 p.m. MST, Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte, with a procession from the 4-mile corner at 2:00 p.m.
Daesia Laree Dupree was born Monday, February 4, 2002, weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 inches long, at Pierre, SD to Daniel Dupree and Tracy Long Soldier. She was raised in Eagle Butte; where she attended school and was currently in her sophomore year. While in school, Daesia was active in basketball, volleyball, archery, Destination Imagination (DI), and the Lakota Knowledge Bowl.
She had a love for life, family, and friends. She spent time as a jingle dress dancer, listening to music, writing, reading books, watching movies, driving around, riding horses, and hanging out with her friends.
Daesia’s life will be cherished by her parents: Tracy Long Soldier and Daniel Dupree of Eagle Butte; siblings: Daelyn, Dalis, and Drake Dupree of Eagle Butte; grandparents: Eleanor Dupree of Dupree and Doug Dupree Sr. of Iron Lightning, Ruby Scheid of Wisconsin, and Sherrie Martell; uncles: Dusty (Robyn) Dupree, Milo Scheid, Jason Long Soldier Sr., Jordan Long Soldier Sr., Chris Long Soldier Sr., and Julian High Horse; aunts: Yuki Scheid (Vern) Traversie and Kylene Counting; cousins: Summer, Makenzie, Chloe, Bowe, Dakota, Tiauna, and Dillon Dupree, Skylin and Tia Rabbitt, Danielle, Daniel and Derek Long Soldier, Christine, Chelsey, Angel, Jordan Jr., Jordyn, Chris Jr., and Sandria Long Soldier, and Daniel Good Left; niece, Taya Dupree; and nephew, Teegan Maupin.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Kenneth Sr. and Shirley Counting and Robert Long Soldier; great grandparents: Cordelia and Wilmar Dupris, Minnie and Bryant High Horse, and Helen and Moses Bad Male; uncle, Douglas L. Dupree Jr.; and cousin, Jason L. Long Soldier Jr.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Daesia’s arrangements.

To Daesia family and friends: I’m sorry to read of Daesia’s death, and extend my sincere condolence. Death of love one, especially so young is always painful. Fortunately in the bible at Revelation chap 21 verse 4-5 Almighty God assures us he will remove all sickness, death and pain. This he will do when his Kingdom rules this earth as it now rules heaven. So as you reflect on your memories with Daesia, remember our Creators promise. I’ll pray for your family.
