Dale Dunn

Dale Dunn, 51, of Big Bend, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Mass was held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Big Bend. Burial followed at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Big Bend. A wake service began at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Church, Big Bend.

Dale Dennis Dunn was born on February 12, 1966 to Richard and Eleanore (Howe) Dunn in Pierre, SD. Dale attended Harold High School, graduating with the class of 1984. He then had two children with his high school sweetheart, Donna Marie Touche. Dale then enlisted in the United States National Guard and was given an honorable discharge.

Dale lived in Rapid City working for Skull Construction for 7 years before returning home to Big Bend in 2005, finishing his construction career with Quality Construction.

Dale, also known as Penner, loved spending time with his family playing cards, listening to 80’s music, and classic rock. His last days were spent being the greatest Poppa ever to his grandchildren, Malia and Dallas. Pen was an avid sports fan and his teams to the end were the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and North Carolina Tar Heels.

Dale lived a humble life and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed making anyone who met him laugh; his smile and laugh will be greatly missed.

Blessed to have shared his life are his parents: Richard Dunn and Eleanore Dunn; sisters: Elaine Dunn and Bonita Dunn; brothers: Tony Dunn, Chase Dunn, and Ambrose Dunn; children: Matt Dunn and Jodi Dunn; grandchildren: Malia and Dallas; nephews: Andy, Clay, and Adam; special friend, Minerva At The Straight; and his many relatives and friends.

Greeting him in heaven is his “big sis”, Gabes; brother, Gordon Dunn; paternal grandparents, Richard Dunn and Marguerite Kinyon; and maternal grandparents, Walter and Caroline Howe.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Dale’s arrangements.
