Darrell Lambie

Darrell Lambie, 65, of Big Bend, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Sanford Ava's House in Sioux Falls.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Catherine’s Hall at Big Bend, rural Harrold. Burial followed at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Big Bend. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Catherine’s Hall at Big Bend.

Darrell Joseph Lambie, also known as Lamb Chops to family and friends, was born January 23, 1954 to Patrick and Nelda (St. John) Lambie in Pierre, South Dakota. Darrell attended school at Hidden Valley in West Bend, SD and St. Peter and Paul School in Pierre.

Darrell lived in the family home all his life in West Bend. He enjoyed spending time with Lenny and Lester Gravatt in California and nephews, Rudy and Tony Gonzales. He especially enjoyed all the time he spent with his sister Marie Morgan in Montana. In his spare time, he would enjoy going fishing, hunting, to softball games, basketball games, and pow wows with family and friends.

Traveling with his family was one of his favorite pastimes. He was always willing to go when he was asked. Darrell spent a lot of time traveling with Duane St. John, Darrell Danielson, and Lenny Gravatt. He spent a lot of time with a good friend, Tony Big Eagle. He also would enjoy going to the casino to gamble and visit with family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Morgan of Montana; and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; and numerous relatives.
