David Bernard Crow Ghost Jr. was born July 30, 1995 to David Sr. and Patrichia (Demery) Crow Ghost in Eagle Butte. David was a smart and happy boy. He enjoyed going to school. David attended Cherry Creek Headstart at the age of 3. He told his mother that the coolest thing about going to headstart was that his auntie Vanessa Hayes and April Waloke were his teachers. David Jr. got the nickname “Chubbs” from his auntie Vanessa; and he kept it all these years. He attended Takini School from K-12th grade. David loved it there and never wanted to miss a day of school. He enjoyed making friends.

David loved his father and mother a lot and always let them know that no matter what. He enjoyed visiting his grandmother, Carolyn “Kelli” Crow Ghost up until she passed away. He missed his grandma dearly.

David Jr. always had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed making music, drawing, taking walks and chilling with his family and friends. After he graduated, David missed his friends a lot. Especially Germaine Iron Hawk’s boys and their sister Karmen who was a good friend to him. Just a week before his passing he told his mother that he wanted to walk to Red Scaffold to visit Germaine Iron Hawk and his bro’s just to see if any of them were around. His mother said to him, “Son, Red Scaffold isn’t just right over the hill”. David replied, “I know, Mom, there are two hills.” His mother replied, “Yes, Son, two hills that are about 12 miles apart.” David Jr. and his mother busted out laughing. He loved his family and thought the world of his brothers, Dallen, Kyson and his two baby bro’s, Kelzin and Zody, whom he thought the world of their big brother, too. David also enjoyed spending time with his auntie Vanessa in Pierre and his cousins, Jayden Yellow Earrings, Shandon Bad Warrior, and Tayton Bad Warrior. He also enjoyed the time he stayed in McLaughlin with his Aunt Kellissa and the rest of his family there and couldn’t wait to visit them all again. He also thought the world of his uncle Jody Red Bird and adopted brother, Michael Fire Cloud.

David will be missed by his family and friends. He will always be with us in our hearts, and in all of our memories of him. David didn’t leave us to make us sad, he tried his best to get well. He prayed and prayed and waited for God to call. He is in Heaven and will be waiting on all of us.

David “Chubbs” will be missed by his parents; his siblings; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Arlene Demery; many aunties, uncles and cousins and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, James and Adelia Crow Ghost; paternal grandmother, Carolyn “Kelli” Crow Ghost; paternal grandfather, Robert Red Bird Sr.; aunt, Carla Bagola; cousin, Torrey Rosebud; uncle, Eugene “Billy” Leaf, Jr.; maternal great grandparents, Frank and Edith Waloke; aunties, Irene Traversie and Clementine Big Eagle; best friend, Keiko Iron Hawk and nephew, Chasten Demery.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with David’s arrangements.
