As a youth, his mode of transportation was riding horses. He bought his first new car in 1950, which was six years after his marriage to Carol Lomheim of Agar on November 30, 1944. This union brought to them one son and three daughters.
David considered himself as a cowhand as he was in the Hereford/Limousin cattle business for 50 years. He retired from ranching in 1979. David and his wife, Carol moved into their hometown, Highmore, the fall of 1993.

When the Senior Athletic Games began in 1984, David joined in and competed in several events. Some of his favorite events through the years were horseshoes, pool and bowling. In 2008, he was named S.D. Outstanding Athlete of the Year. In September of 2010, he was inducted into the S.D. Senior Athletic Games Hall of Fame.
David’s main hobbies were painting pictures and playing pool at the Senior Center. He has many beautiful paintings of a variety of scenes. David and Carol also enjoyed 40 years of square dancing and were avid travelers. David also had a love for bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening, golf and playing cards.

So Sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I pray that you receive the comfort of the Holy Spirit. When I saw him at the Health Care Center, he told me that he looked forward to seeing the Lord and Lucinda and we had a nice time of prayer together. He was a good man and will be missed for sure. It was only fitting that he won his last horse shoe contest. No doubt there is a game going in heaven now. I believe Lucinda’s prayers for him were answered. God bless you all.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time.

I am and was so saddened to hear the news. Dave will always have a place in my memory and heart as a kind, vibrant, down-to-earth man respected by those around him. I enjoyed hearing him tell his stories; he had the kind of voice you liked to listened to and a fun sense of humor to go with it. My condolences to Carol and the family on the loss of such a wonderful man.
The treasure of great memories will remain with those who were lucky enough to know Dave and, for that, I am thankful. UU
