January 2, 1929 ~ August 23, 2017

Delores Ford, 88, of Faulkton, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Faulkton Area Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman presiding. Burial followed in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Delores Jean (Bent) Ford was born on January 2, 1929 to Art and Lena (Ickler) Bent in Faulkton, SD.  The eldest of six children, she grew up in the Orient area. Delores graduated from Faulkton High School in 1947.

On September 10, 1947, she married Clyde “Bud” Ford.  They began their married life farming two miles south of Miranda where they lived for 53 years.  They had six children: Pat, Bill, Susan, Lori, Bob and Julie. Delores moved to town in 2000.

Delores was very active in Miranda; supporting the church, Ladies Aid and Legion Auxiliary. When the Miranda church closed in 2005, she became a member of United Methodist Church of Faulkton.

In addition to raising her children, she was always busy cooking, baking, sewing and tending to the sheep.  She worked at the Miranda Elevator for many years, and she was known for providing delicious goodies for coffee breaks. In later years, when flowers did not have to share water with the cows, her gardens were the talk of the area.  She truly had a green thumb.

On August 23, 2017, Delores left us in her usual quiet and unassuming manner.  Grateful for having shared her life are her six children: Pat (Ed) Pelot, Bill (Rose), Susan, Lori (Mike) Seager, Bob (Cindy) and Julie (Loren) Rozell; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings: Donna Schmidt, Dick Bent and Roger Bent; and sister-in-law, Betty Stammer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; two sons-in-law, Tom Jenson and Ken Brendle; brother, Charles Bent; and sister, Bonnie Meyer.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Delores’ arrangements.

  12. Sorry to hear about Delores. I can remember being at the farm when I was little playing with Julie and Bob. Once when I visited when I was 5 (I think), Delores made me sit on the couch for awhile after she caught me tossing a cat up in the air to see if it actually lands on its feet. Anyway, fond memories. Wish the best for the Ford clan during this time. Sincerely, Scott and Paige and Ayden

  13. Dan and Barb Bent Duncan says:

To Delores’s family. We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time

  14. My sincere condolences. However, Delores lived a long and good life and had lots of loved ones. She still lives in everyone she touched. Special thoughts to the Ford "kids" as I shared good times with you and my thoughts are with you. Take care.

  15. May the family and friends of Delores be comforted by the promise that God " will swallow up death forever, and will wipe the tears from all faces.." (Isaiah 25:8) What a wonderful time to look forward to when we’ll never have to experience losing those dear to us in death ever again!
