Dennis Yost
May 26, 1954
Dennis Eugene Yost was born on May 26, 1954 to Edwin and Norma (Thompson) Yost. He was their first born son. Dennis and his brother Terry always kept life interesting for their parents. They would climb windmills, give snake presents to their mom, or go hunting in the trees. Dennis drove race car from 1970 to 1985. He graduated from Miller High School in 1972. He died peacefully at home on June 3, 2008.
On September 23, 1978, Dennis married the love of his life, Denise Purrington. They had four daughters and two sons: Amanda, Deidra, Serena, Sabrina, Devron, and Caleb. Dennis was a wonderful father to his children. He taught them to hunt, fish, fix cars, drive, and live life to the fullest. He would not let his children drive until they could change their own tire. He made sure his family was taken care of and knew he loved them. He was proud of them all. Dennis was the father in law to Jeffrey, Andy, Joe and Lee. He was the grandfather to Denae, Cassandra, VonnaGail, Weston, Wyatt, Kailena, Aleah, Stephenie, and Terrell. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart. Whenever he would see them his eyes would sparkle with joy and love for them even after he was sick.
Dennis and Denise lived in Hand County for most of their marriage, only living south in Buffalo County for a few years. They moved to Miller in 1999 and moved to their current home in 2004.
Dennis had farmed his whole life. He was working for John and A John Boomsma at the time of his illness. He loved working for them and thought of them as family. Dennis loved racing and could be found at the Miller Speedway watching his sons and nephew race.
Dennis will always be remembered for his love of all people, his bushy beard, and his strong work habit. His children and grandchildren will never forget his love for them and how proud of each of them he was.
He was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Alex, Hailei, Baby Yost, and Baby S. Yost; his brother, Terry, his father in law, James.
