Dolris McKown, 72, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Specialty Select Hospital, Sioux Falls. 

Memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman officiating. Burial of her cremains will take place at a later date in the Ashton Cemetery.

Dolris Jean Davis was born November 7, 1943 in Roberts County, SD to William and Viola (Larsen) Davis.

She attended Redfield School through the 8th grade, and at the age of 41 Dolris went on to receive her G.E.D. and also a degree in dietary management.

In 1961, Dolris Married Perle O’Daniel. To this union three children were born.

Some of the places Dolris lived throughout her life included a farm near Ashton, which from there she moved to a ranch near Oelrichs, SD in 1978 where she was a stay at home mom until beginning to travel to work in Hot Springs at the State Veterans Home. Later on she resided in Chadron, NE, working at Crestview Nursing Home. In 2012, Dolris moved to Faulkton where she happily took on the role of full time Grandma.

Some of the things Dolris will be most remembered by were her exceptional cooking skills, always having a smile on her face, and her true devotion and dedication to her family. Some of her other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, arts and crafts, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and games, and her love of dancing.

Dolris is survived by her three children: Shan O’Daniel of Lead, Wade O’Daniel of Oglala, and Jodi (Joe) Senn of Seneca; 13 grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner, Klay, Kole, Katy, Kaylee, and Kaycee O’Daniel and Shauna, Kayla, Ashly, Jaymi, Shaye and Weston Senn; siblings: Janice (Ronnie) Metzger of Kelso, WA, Sharon (Tommy) Brand of Long View, WA, Lorelle (Ted) Davis of Usk, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dolris is preceded in death by her parents and sister Beverly Davis.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Dolris’s arrangements.

    Dolris was my sister. I will miss her smile, laughter, wit and her voice. She loved music. No matter what she was doing, cooking, cleaning or just sitting she would be listening and singing to fifties music. Her faith was strong and I know she is probably singing in the Lords choir. I will see her again one day but for now I really miss her.
