Doris Josephine Frasier was born June 25, 1928 in rural Orient, South Dakota. She was the second child of twelve and the eldest daughter of Huston and Marie (Lenhoff) Frasier.

Her family moved often when she was young, so Doris attended schools in Orient, Deadwood, Crook City, Spearfish, Lafoon, and Faulkton. She would have graduated in 1947 from Faulkton High School, but quit school in her eleventh year to help her family at home.

On June 26, 1946, Doris married Frederick John “Fritz” Myers at St. Thomas parsonage, Faulkton. They made their home on the farm of his parents, William “Ed” and Harriet (Kuhl) Myers. Together they raised six children.

While farming and ranching, they also owned and operated Fred Myers Trucking. Later, Doris was employed by Faulkton Rexall Drug and the Head Start Program in Faulkton. She also planted trees for the Conservation Service.

After Fritz suffered a stroke, she cared for him in their home as long as she was able. When he became a resident of Faulkton Senior Living Center, she became a devoted visitor and volunteer. She and Fritz had been married 64 years at the time of his passing in 2011.

Church and family were most important to Doris. She was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, helped with 4-H, and was a regular volunteer at Abundantly Blessed. Her favorite hobbies included quilting and making rag rugs on her mother’s rug loom. Many will also remember her passion and talent for refinishing furniture.

Her memory will be cherished by her six children: David of Belle Fourche, Ronald (Linda) of Mobridge, Thomas (Mary) of Spearfish, Connie (Mark) Selting of Kadoka, Richard (Kim) of Belle Fourche, and George (Julie) of Belle Fourche; 16 grandchildren: Keith Myers, Jason Myers, Dawn Tesch, Laura Myers, Jerry Myers, Teri Kiewel, Shawn Myers, Tommy Myers, Taylor Selting, Jeremy Myers, Erik Myers, Ryan Bush, Robin Bush, Amber Dierkson, Andy Ryman and Adam Ryman; 29 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gottwald and Kathryn Tiensvold; two brothers, Bob Frasier and Lyle Frasier; one brother-in-law, Brother Bill Myers, OSL; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Doris was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; husband, Fritz; five brothers: Melvin, James, Duane, Arnold, and Jerald; and two sisters, Rosella Hirchert and Mavis Gottwald.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Doris’ arrangements.
