Drucilla Widow

Drucilla Widow, 95, of Red Scaffold, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at I.H.S. Hospital, Eagle Butte.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., MST, Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Old Agency Building, Eagle Butte with Pastor Byron Buffalo presiding. Burial followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis at 3:00p.m. All night wake services began at 7:00 p.m., MST, Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Old Agency Building with a procession from the 4 mile at 4:30 p.m.
Drucilla Thunder Hoop Widow was born in Cherry Creek, SD to Harry and Ruth Yellow Hawk Thunder Hoop on October 1st, 1920. Drucilla lived in the Red Scaffold area all of her life. Due to health problems, she moved to the Eagle Butte Manor in 2008. This is where she resided until she entered the spirit world. Drucilla had a long life in which she enjoyed, she loved to visit on the phone with all her friends and relatives. Drucilla was raised on a horse ranch which was owned by her father Harry. She owned a race horse by the name of Brown Deek, which was her pride and joy. Owners of race horses from different reservations and locals would come to challenge. Her jockey was the Rev. Guy Buffalo, and often Brown Deek would be the champion. Drucilla had four older siblings, two brothers and twin sisters, which all died at young ages. Drucilla was the oldest of the two sisters, Rose & Eunice, and one brother, Steve Charging Eagle.
Drucilla was the first church secretary at the Frazier Memorial Church where she wrote her minutes in Lakota Language. She attended White Swan School south of Dupree in her early school age and then went to Red Scaffold School where she graduated 6th grade. Drucilla married Ervin Gilbert Widow on May 28, 1950 in Pierre, S.D. In 1952, she lost a child. In 1953, Drucilla and Gilbert adopted Aaron Two Crow, who they raised along with all the neighbor boys. In May of 2000 they celebrated their 50th marriage anniversary at the Frazier Memorial Church. Gilbert (Mo) passed on into the spirit world on April 6, 2006.
Drucilla is survived by her son Aaron Widow; granddaughter Erin Ann Widow,;great grandchildren Hoksila Moe, Ambrose, and Dreamer of Eagle Butte; cousin, Darlene Meeter; nieces: Myra Lee, Glenda Thunder Hoop, Iris, Ida, Delora, Olivia & Mia Little Thunder, Bea, Geraldine, Stephanie & Valorie Charging Eagle; and nephews; Harry and Kenny Little Thunder, and Richard Charging Eagle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, infant child, nephew Thomas Charging Eagle, and grandson Kerwin Condon.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte was been entrusted with Drucilla’s arrangements.
